The weather has really thrown me for a loop lately. One day it’s a sweltering 95 degrees, and the next it’s 60 degrees and rainy.  In fact, I was actually holding an umbrella when I first starting taking these photos, but was promptly able to put it away in the middle of the shoot.

In other news, I purchased a new toy last week that I’m really excited about.  Not sure if you’ve noticed a difference in picture quality this week, but after much consternation, I finally bit the bullet and bought a new lens for my camera!  Out of necessity in trying to keep my blog all nice and pretty for you guys, I’ve been slowly but surely educating myself about photography and upgrading my equipment over time.  I’ve wanted to try out a fixed lens for a while and finally decided on a Sony 50mm f/1.8 SAM DT.

So far, I’m really pleased with it.  It does a much better job in low-light situations (i.e. snapping pics after work when the sun’s just about GONE) than the kit lens I was using.  What I like most is the control it gives me over depth of field in my photos.  Previously, I often  felt like I had to take my outfit pics in front of a brick wall or some other banal surface.  Otherwise, the background would look to busy and compete with the details in my ensemble.  But now I can snap away to my heart’s content in a variety of locales without having to worry so much about capturing random strangers or other out-of-place bits in the background!

I LURVE this look so much!  The coated jeans are too cute and so is that top!  I have him-ed and haw-ed over buying a lens for my camera for a long time, but it certainly does make pictures so much better!  These look great!

Thanks! I definitely dragged my feet on this lens purchase as well, but it’s so well worth it. And it makes picture-taking for the blog a lot more fun and satisfying. 🙂
