It wasn’t until after I’d taken these photos and uploaded them did I notice that my belt was coming undone and that my collar was crooked.  When I pointed these matters out to Eric, he just shrugged his shoulders and said I looked spreezy.  Huh?

Since my husband teaches highschool math, my initial assumption was that the word ‘spreezy’ was just some slang he’d picked up from his students… Well I guess I should have given him a little more credit.

As it turns out, spreezy is his shortened form of the Italian word sprezzatura, loosely translated as “studied carelessness” or “artful dishevelment”.  As it pertains to fashion, sprezzatura is the idea of projecting a carefree, nonchalant attitude about your appearance—when in reality you take a great deal of time and effort to create your look.

So the next time someone points out that your shirt is untucked or that your dress is a little wrinkled, just give them a sly little smile and tell ’em to call you spreezy.
