Since the 4th of July falls oh-so-inconveniently on Wednesday this year, Eric and I decided to sneak in a little weekend getaway to Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard.  It was so nice to relax on the water, catch some sun, and gorge on delicious seafood.  Speaking of seafood… check out the clambake I ordered:

Yep, that definitely went down.  Eating a whole lobster used to give me pause, but YouTube has definitely been my friend in helping me conquer the crustacean.  This video in particular gives my favorite no-frills, quick-and-dirty rundown on how to de-shell a lobster like a champ.  Enjoy!

Cute maxi-dress girl! As for the lobster…yeah. Not there yet! lol
I am really loving the way you’ve been rocking ur afro puffs. Not sure if you have mentioned it b4 but what products do you use for your natural hair and do you find that pulling your hair back thins out the edges? I have been rocking buns and afro puffs since May… cuz my hair does not do well in the DC humidity… but I am afraid I will end up with no hair on my edges come fall!

I did a video on hair and skincare products I use a loooong time ago: http://youtu.be/zzIwAY_Io20, but here’s a quick update: I generally wash my hair once a week with a sulfate free shampoo and condition with Miss Jessie’s Rapid Recovery or Super Sweetback Treatment. If I had more time, I would use bentonite clay mixed with apple cider vinegar a few times a month because my hair loves it! After washing, I apply Kinky Curly Knot Today and Castor Oil. Depending on my mood, I set my hair in twists or braids or use curlformers and let it air dry overnight. On rare occasions, I will blow dry on medium heat. I’m extremely careful not to pull my puff very tight, and I almost always let my hair hang (or rather stand up, lol) freely when I’m at home. So no, I have not had any issues with thinning edges.

We stayed at a small hotel on the main strip in Hyannis, but I’ll have to look up the name. The food in the pic is from Fresh Ketch. We also ate at a really great restaurant in Martha’s Vineyard called Nancy’s.
