After acquiring a sewing machine last Christmas, I finally mustered up the resolve to actually make something. Well, that’s not entirely true. I attempted to make a skirt from a store-bought pattern last month, but I wound up cutting the material only half as wide as I was supposed to (long story, I’ll spare myself the embarrassment you the details). After that failed attempt, I remembered this post from What Would a Nerd Wear on how to make the “World’s Easiest Skirt”. The title sounded promising, so I decided to give it a shot…
BEST DECISION EVER!
As someone who’d never used a sewing machine before, I’m pretty pleased with the results. I felt so crafty afterwards that I used some of my leftover scraps to make this bracelet (I just wrapped the fabric around a plain plastic bangle and secured the ends with a knot on the inside). I then started to make matching legwarmers and a bandana, but Eric told me to go to bed because I was obviously delirious with exhaustion…
Great job! Love the print of that skirt!

I love the matching skirt and bracelet 🙂
😀 I’m so proud of you! I don’t have a sowing machine but I attempted a silly project last year; I tried to make a little tuxedo for one of my stuffed bears…out of velvet. Worst. Decision. Ever. Maybe one day I’ll be courageous enough to try something else 😛 But that skirt turned out amazing. [High five!]

Victory is yours! That looks awesome, Kendra. How much fun you’ll now have now that you’ve broken the seal!
You did a great job and the pattern is beautiful.
Best wishes on your sewing excursions! The skirt looks great. My mom taught me to sew as a little, little kid (she’s a profession seamstress) and it’s a skill I cannot imagine living without. You’ve opened yourself up to a whole world of new clothing possibilities!
That skirt is amazing – you did a really good job!
