Summer is officially winding down, so I’m making sure to savor every moment that I can still get away with sandals, bare legs, and going outside without a jacket. Soon enough, I know I’ll need to start digging my sweaters and tights out of storage… just not quite yet!

I’m happy to report that I survived Hurricane Irene, and I’m no worse for the wear. Last Friday, I signed off by telling you guys that I was running off to fetch emergency supplies. So for those of you who were curious, below is a behind-the-scenes look at how a typical Manhattanite prepares for impending disaster:

I sniped this skirt on eBay months ago and was waiting for the perfect rainy day to wear it. Well, I got my wish earlier this week. In fact, it was so rainy that I had to take my outfit photos indoors. And just in case you’re wondering, I don’t typically don an umbrella indoors, but I put aside my superstitions to give you guys the full effect.
