{Betsey Johnson Dress, H&M Belt, Jessica Simpson Shoes, Tommy Hilfiger Tights, Forever 21 Sunglasses}

Blue skies are finally here again!  With the 30 for 30 Challenge (finally) officially behind me, I jumped at the chance to inject some color back into my life.  It felt SO GOOD!  I scored this lovely Betsey Johnson dress for an additional half-off the current sale price and I couldn’t be more pleased with it.  The skirt is really full and just makes me feel like twirling whenever I wear it… although I usually wait until I’m out of view from my co-workers before doing so.

I also scored these sky-high heels (seen on fashion bloggers all across the interwebs) for half-price as well.  Sadly, I think they’re all sold out on the Jessica Simpson website (except for a size 5 in purple crushed velvet), but I posted a link above to Macy’s where they still have them at full price.  With a 5.8 inch heel, these shoes put me over 6 feet tall!  I admit, it makes me feel a little freakish to tower over everyone on a crowded NYC subway, but they’re totally walkable because of the super-thick platform sole.

And yes… I also got them in black.  Like I told you guys before, I have a really bad habit of buying things in multiples.

Closet Confection: Over and Out!

black leather jacket, andrew marc leather jacket, olive wrap dress, banana republic wrap dress, leopard tights, black leather boots

When: Sunday, February 27th, 2011

Where: Hither and Thither

What: Jacket (Andrew Marc via Century 21), dress (Banana Republic), tights (Forever 21), boots (thrifted via Beacon’s Closet), sunglasses (Forever 21), bangles (H&M)

For my final act, I decided to break out my trusty leather jacket that I purchased last year at Century 21 at a great discount.  I can’t believe I went so many years without owning one, but it’s the perfect thing to add a little pizzazz to any outfit.

I love this one because it’s close-fitting (but still zippable) and slightly cropped, which means it looks great over dresses. I also dig the elasticized cuffs that allow the sleeves to stay up when I push them back 80s style.  With spring just around the corner, I’ve been keeping a lookout for a brown or camel-colored version to go with all of my frilly frocks.  So far, I’ve found this little number at Zara’s that seems right up my alley (and at a great price-point!).

Closet Confection: Are We There Yet?

2011_0301_outfit2

When: Saturday, February 26th, 2011

Where: Here and There

What: Blouse (Heritage 1981), skirt (Gap), tights (DKNY via Filene’s Basement), shoes (BCBG via Loehmann’s), handbag (vintage Bally via eBay), necklaces (Forever 21), sunglasses (Forever 21), bracelets (Amrita Singh via Hautelook)

Jeeze, it feels like I haven’t posted in ages!  In my defense, I was battling a nasty case of food poisoning that I’m just now getting over.  Trust me, it wasn’t a pretty sight.  Those Andouille Corn Dogs from Peels seemed like a good at the time. But in retrospect, I probably should’ve skipped them.

I also should have trusted my instincts when I saw the “B” sanitation grading on the front window of the restaurant.  Oh well, lesson learned.
