When: Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Where: Work

What: Dress ($30 Andrew Marc New York via Century 21), belt (H&M), shoes ($10 Steve Madden)

Uh oh, guys… I’m in serious trouble!

There’s a Century 21 department store just a short walk away from my new office.  I just realized this last week, and promptly purchased 4 new dresses on my lunch hour.  The good news is that they were all on clearance!

To avoid further temptation, I’ve booked up my lunch hours for the next couple of weeks with business lunches and classes at New York Sports Club.

Let’s hope that I can stay outta trouble.

Closet Confection: Going in Circles

When: Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Where: Work + MAD (Museum of Art & Design)

What: Dress ($20 Banana Republic thrifted via Beacon’s Closet), necklace ($8.50 eBay), shoes ($45 Banana Republic)

Aaaargh! I’m just about ready to give up on silk skirts and dresses for work.  Iron as I may, they always seem to get wrinkled as soon as I sit down.  I actually wore this outfit back in May and photographed it for the blog but never posted the photos for this very reason.  I decided to try it again, but the results were about the same.  Oh well, I think it adds character.  I mean you can really tell that I’ve been working hard all day at my desk, not just standing around looking cool and aloof…

At least that’s what I kept telling myself everytime I caught a glimpse of my outfit in the mirror.

Where: Work

What: Dress ($40 Isaac Mizrahi for Target), scarf worn as a belt ($10 vintage), necklace ($8.50 vintage via eBay), shoes ($25 Guess via Filene’s Basement)

Man, it is tough going back to work after a long vacation!  This was my second day on the job, and I was totally beat.  I couldn’t wait to get home, but I did muster up enough energy to snap some pics before hopping on the train.

Everytime I wear this dress it reminds me of how much I miss the Isaac Mizrahi line at Target.  There were some seriously well-constructed garments in those collections.  For instance, this dress is fully lined and comes with pockets and little hidden snaps in the shoulder to hold your bra straps in place—GENIUS!

I usually just wear it with the matching belt that came with it, but I recently purchased a vintage silk scarf that I wanted to incorporate into the outfit.  At first I tried tying it around my neck, but then I decided it was just too hot (maybe I’ll try it again when the weather cools down because it was super cute).

The necklace was a great eBay score I made a few weeks back.  If you recall last month’s visit to the Hester Street Fair, you know that I drooled over a number of jewelry creations.  One of them was this cool vintage mechanical pencil necklace from Corvus Noir.  I couldn’t justify spending $84 on a necklace at the time, but a quick search on eBay later that evening yielded a similar piece for one-tenth of the price! Mine even has the original lead in it.

Do any of you guys shop for clothing and accessories on eBay?  What have been some of your favorite finds?
