Closet Confection: On the Mayflower

2010_1102_outfit1

When: Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

Where: Work

What: Coat (Miss Sixty), dress ($10 via Old Navy clearance sale), scarf ($30 Missoni via eBay), shoes ($50 Vince Camuto via Loehmann’s)

So, my second day taking my own photos went a little more smoothly than the first.  This time around, I just focused on completely tuning out the people around me. It almost worked like a charm, except for the random old guy who yelled “Good luck!”

I’m still not sure what that was about.

Anyhoo, back to the outfit.

I bought this dress at Old Navy a few years back.  And because I have a terrible habit of buying things in multiples, I have another one in black.  I almost forgot I had this dress until I recently reorganized my closet (video post coming as soon as I get my hands on a decent editing program).

After leaving the apartment and arriving to work, I suddenly remembered why I never wear this dress…

DOH! I think I subconsciously knew that I looked like a pilgrim, which is why I decided to top it off by wearing these buckled ankle boots.

See, that’s what happens when your life is centered around food.  Last month I was channeling McDonald’s, and this month it’s Thanksgiving apparently.  I’m not going to worry about it too much, but I draw the line at dressing like a turkey.

Closet Confection: These Boots Were Made For Walking

2010_1026_outfit1

When: Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

Where: Work

What: Blazer (Nine West, part of a suit), dress ($35 Banana Republic, also seen here), handbag (Bally vintage via eBay), boots (Nine West via Filene’s Basement)

I just want to warn you all…

2010_1026_outfit5

You’ll probably be seeing these boots on the blog A LOT for the next couple of weeks.

2010_1026_outfit3

I bought them on a whim after work one evening, and now I just love them to death!

In fact, I’m wearing them now as I type this post at 2am.  They’ve been on my feet for the past 12 hours, and I could easily go 12 more.  They are just that comfy.

2010_1026_outfit2

I wasn’t sure if I could pull them off at first because they just seemed so… SASSY!

But sometimes a little sass is just what a girl needs!

Closet Raid: How To Wear a Leather Skirt at Work

leather_skirt

When you think of office-appropriate attire, a leather skirt probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. I picked up this amazing bronze leather pencil version at a thrift store a while back and immediately saw its potential for adding some spice to my weekday wardrobe.

Below are 4 looks that can help put some oomph into your work week!

This one works for even the most conservative environments. Normally, I hate wearing suits because they often seem so stuffy. The skirt gives the look some attitude while still staying polished and professional.

I love the juxtaposition of a feminine silk chiffon blouse paired with a bossy leather skirt.  This is a great way to mix up an otherwise boring workday.

Whenever I’m having a bad case of the Mondays, adding a few luxe elements to my ensemble always help cheer me up.  This would be a great outfit to wear if you were headed out to dinner and drinks after work or to the office holiday party.

Ahhh… the perfect casual Friday outfit.  Donning a leather skirt is a great way to round out the work week when paired with a cozy knit sweater and chic ankle boots.
