Last Thursday I had several important meetings during the day, and I was hosting a huge event in the evening.  I wanted a look that was polished and professional, but still had that extra Kendra* flair.  I love how this outfit is very menswear-inspired with the tailored dress and banker-striped shirt.  Since the top portion was so buttoned-up, I felt that I could get away with a pair of sexy red heels and matching clutch.

*I’m referring to myself in the 3rd person, just in case you thought I was talking about one of those other Kendra’s.

I’m having a serious moment with pleated skirts this season.  This one holds a particularly special place in my heart since I had one just like it in college.  I love it so much that I wore it 3 days in a row when I first got it (but only for a couple of hours each time, I promise).  Pictures can’t even begin to capture how lovely this skirt is in person (although I did my best here to capture its movement).

Armed with a Macy’s gift card I received for my birthday a while back (thanks, Mom!), I made a beeline for the clearance rack and quickly unearthed this gem.  The flouncy skirt and bold floral pattern make this such a fun little frock to wear.  Season-agnostic dresses like these are the real workhorses of my wardrobe.  They make me look perfectly put-together in spring and summer with just a cute pair of sandals or pumps.  As the weather turns cool, I can just add a cardigan or blazer and a pair of thick tights.
