Closet Confection: Better Late Than Never

breton stripe tee, wolford tights, leopard print booties

When: Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

Where: After work

What: tunic (H&M), leggings (Wolford via Club Monaco), booties (Forever 21), beret (Forever 21), brooch (H&M)

How does that old saying go?  “If it weren’t for the last minute, nothing would get done.”

Yep, that’s pretty much how I roll!

I’ve known about the Breton Stripes Challenge over at Everybody, Everywhere for a while, but somehow it totally slipped my mind while I was getting dressed this morning.  But no worries, I’m sliding in with a last minute entry at 11:30pm EST.  I’ve still got thirty minutes to spare… make that 3 hours and 30 minutes if you’re on the West Coast!

Since it’s after hours, and I’m officially off duty, I thought I’d take my stripes in funky direction with leopard print booties and a cool brooch.  Hmmm… I think I know what I’ll be wearing this weekend!

Closet Confection: Take Two!

black rugby cable sweater, vintage skirt, black lace tights, black suede nine west shoes, marc jacobs sunglasses

When: Originally worn Monday, January 17th, 2011

Where: Capsule Menswear Show

What: Sweater ($40 Rugby), skirt (The Kissing Tree Vintage), tights (Urban Outfitters), shoes (Nine West), belt (H&M), sunglasses (Marc Jacobs via Nordstrom’s Rack)

I was experiencing some severe technical difficulties with my camera the last time I wore this outfit.  But since I never was a quitter, I decided to recreate the outfit and try again.  The pics came out much better this time if I do say so myself.

Unfortunately, my sock drawer was a complete mess, leaving me unable to locate a pair of solid black tights.  This was unheard of since I stock up on black tights like most people stock up on…

Well, I have no idea what most people stock up on.  Toilet paper, maybe?  Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that I have lots of solid black tights, so it was a huge annoyance that I couldn’t find a pair when I needed them.  So after I finished up my quick photo shoot, I ventured back inside to do this:

Ahhh… much better!  Now let’s just hope I can keep it this way.

Closet Confection: Little Red Riding Hood

leopard blouse, high waist jeans, red patent pumps, red duffle coat

When: Thursday, January 20th, 2011

Where: Work

What: Coat ($99 Guess via Burlington Coat Factory), jeans ($23 Forever 21), blouse ($40 Michael Kors via Bloomingdale’s), shoes ($20 Guess via Filene’s Basement), gloves (Ugg Australia via Century 21), sunglasses ($10 Girl Props)

I’m making up for yesterday’s fiasco with an abundance of outfit photos for your viewing pleasure!

I bought these funky little half-tinted glasses a while ago but never really had the guts to wear them.  I figured my coat was bright enough to distract folks from paying attention to my glasses.  Actually, now that I just typed that sentence up I’m not sure if that logic really holds: wearing something mildly distracting to draw attention away from something that’s really distracting.  Hmmm… perhaps I should have thought that through a little bit more.

Oh well.

In other news, my company recently relaxed it’s dress code.  That means I can wear jeans anytime I want, as long as I’m not meeting with clients. Yippee!

I decided to take advantage of the situation by test-driving a pair of high-waist bell bottoms that will supposedly be all the rage next season.

I used to live in flare  legs and boot-cut jeans back in high school and college, so this was a nice change of pace from the skinny jeans everyone’s been rocking for the last couple of years.

What about you ladies?  What style of jeans do you prefer?
