Closet Confection: The Little Dress That Could…

When the lovely folks over at SuperTrash invited me to pick my favorite piece to style according to my personality, I immediately gravitated towards the gorgeous, cobalt blue, silk Daimy dress. As soon as it arrived, I did what any self-respecting fashionista does when she acquires a new wardrobe addition…

I played DRESS-UP!

I was pleasantly surprised at how versatile this little dress turned out to be. Check out the pics below for the 4 different looks I was able to create.

For my first look, I decided to let the dress do the talking by playing up it’s bold hue with fun, colorful accessories.

The second time around, I tossed on a flirty leopard-print miniskirt. I really liked how the pop of blue peaking out below the skirt added an extra dose of color. I went with patent navy heels and a coordinating clutch to polish off the look.

They say the third time is the charm, so I piled on my favorite vintage necklaces to add a touch of bling to this casual ensemble. If you look closely, you’ll see there’s a miniature fortune cookie and a working whistle alongside my tassled pendant.

Since this is, after all, a style off… I couldn’t resist being a little cheeky with my last look. And yes, I was in fact a science geek back in high school… albeit a well-dressed one!

I scored this top during a very fruitful thrifting adventure last month, and I immediately knew I wanted to pair it with my bright yellow pumps.  I’d originally hoped to score of pair of aqua-colored jeans to complete the look. But alas, the denim gods decided not to smile upon me in my quest for candy-colored bottoms.  Never one to give up on a cute outfit, I unearthed this azul high-waist pencil skirt from the depths of my closet.  Mission accomplished!

When: Saturday, August 20th 2010

Where: Dinner in Greenwich Village

What: Dress ($20 H&M Garden Collection), pumps ($40 Guess via Filiene’s Basement), clutch (Forever21)

I LOVE THIS DRESS!

It’s probably one of the most dramatic pieces in my closet.  But if I could wear it everyday, I would. I must have gone to every H&M in Manhattan looking for this dress before I finally found it. I would always see it in the window taunting me, but no one ever seemed to have it in stock.  Then I finally found her, and we’ve been inseparable ever since…

The End.
