The Hookup

According to J. Crew’s latest catalog, a hookup is the pairing of two (or more) pieces of the same print in a single outfit.

Well, I don’t care what it’s called, but it’s absolutely genius!  It’s no secret that I love dresses because it doesn’t take a lot to style them (just add cute shoes, and go!).  But a hookup provides the convenience of a dress when I need it, with the added versatility of being able to mix and match the top and bottom with other pieces in my wardrobe.  I’ve already gotten my feet wet with a skirt and scarf hookup earlier this year, but something tells me that I’m going to be on the lookout for even more combos this season!

What do you guys think of hookups? Love ’em, or leave ’em?

Seeing me in jeans is a rare occurrence indeed, but every now and then I do get the urge to don a pair.  I’ve tried to put my trusty yellow pumps away for the season twice already only to keep digging them back out again.  If this keeps up, someone’s going to have to pry these things off of my cold, frost-bitten toes this winter!

This weekend was pretty laid back.  I had a bunch of items on my to-do list, but the only one I got around to was stopping by the C. Wonder store opening.

The place was jam-packed, but I managed to snag some free brownies, a new gold and tortoise-shell watch, and a magnificent yellow and green envelope clutch.  In case you’re wondering just what the heck C. Wonder is, I overheard one shopper describing it to her friends as “a mix of Tory (Burch), (Jonathan) Adler, and Lily (Pulitzer)”.  I have to agree that her description just about summed things up, and I would just add that the C. Wonder price-points are a lot more wallet-friendly.  For instance, my new clutch was $24, and the watch was $68 (a far cry from this $250 Michael Kors Chronograph I’ve been pining over for the past year).
