Closet Confection: Snake in the Grass

Here are a few quick pics of me sneaking a weasel date with my husband during lunch. We like to do this from time to time since we work so close to one another. I usually wear more conservative pumps with this dress, but I decided to step it up a notch for my hot date.

Because of its somewhat drab color (pale grey), it’s easy for this dress to look washed out and boring. So, I tossed on some dark chunky jewelry to provide contrast. For next time, I’m thinking a big coral necklace and cocktail ring would be perfection.

Closet Confection: Tiptoe Through the Tulips

What: Striped vintage blouse ($15 eBay), grey pencil skirt ($20 Banana Republic clearance sale), necklace (won in a raffle), grey patent leather pumps (Kenneth Cole), handbag (Tommy Hilfiger via Filene’s Basement), trench coat (H&M)

Another day on the grind… Oh well, at least the weather is perking up! And it was really nice to see the tulips in full bloom.

I was on a vintage 80s kick when I bought this blouse online. It’s hard to see in the pic, but it has really cute peplum sleeves and button details on one shoulder.

Closet Confection: In the Navy

This Friday was my 5-year wedding anniversary. Usually, my husband and I manage to take a vacation to celebrate the occasion. But plans just didn’t work out this year because of my new job schedule and because his Spring Break fell earlier this year. So, we wound up just having a wonderful and romantic dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Spice Market.

I’m really excited about nautical fashion influences this spring, and I thought my new ruffle sleeve top paired with a sailor skirt I picked up 2 years ago would be a perfect, work-appropriate interpretation. When I originally tried this top on at H&M in a larger size, I had mixed feelings about it and. Then, I saw another woman wearing it beautifully a few weeks later, and I decided that I had to have it. Of course, it was sold out by then, and I wound up finding it randomly on eBay in a smaller size (and by random, I mean that I searched almost every day for an entire week until I found someone selling it). So far, I’m really happy with it’s versatility. I also wore it with jeans the previous weekend, and it looked equally as cute:
