Did I Mention That I Love Solange Knowles?

Untitled{images sourced from www.mydamnblog.com}

I’ll start this off by saying that I’m a HUGE Beyonce fan (as anyone who’s ever been to karaoke with me can attest to).  However, when it comes to fashion, I have to give it up to her younger sister.  Yes… she’s had a few questionable interviews, but her style is impeccable.  Also, you have to admit how amazing it is that her hair can go from a teeny, weeny afro to a huge mass of AWESOME in like 2 seconds flat (yeeeaaahhh… I know it’s a weave, but it’s still pretty cool).

Anyway, check out her blog if you haven’t already.  And click-through for more pics of my favorite Solange style moments…

I woke up this morning feeling really patriotic, and I decided to channel it into today’s outfit…

Naaaahhh… not really.  I just thought the shoes looked really good with this skirt.

Happy Hump Day!

A Tasty Little Recipe: Slap Ya Mama (Homemade Potato Chips)

While I was down in New Orleans, I picked up various hot sauces (with names waaaayyyy too inappropriate to showcase on the blog), Cafe du Monde beignet mix, and of course… Slap Ya Mama seasoning (a spicy little blend of salt, red/black pepper, and garlic).  After my foray with homemade cheeze-its, I decided to try my hand at making my own potato chips.  These certainly did not disappoint.  I rarely keep junk food around the house, so these are a perfect solution for those times when I’m feeling a little peckish.  The prep is so simple that I hesitate to even call it a recipe, but I’ve included the steps below in case you decide to give them a whirl.

Tools/Ingredients

  • Russet potatoes (1 per desired servings)
  • 1/4-1/2  teaspoons Slap Ya Mama seasoning (or substitute your preferred seasoning blend)
  • Mandolin fruit/vegetable slicer
  • Microwave chip maker
