New England Travel Diary: Bar Harbor {Featuring Jord Wood Watches}

I can’t think of a better way to kick off the summer than with a relaxing weekend in Bar Harbor. Eric and I first made our way to this summer playground almost two years ago, and we’ve been itching to go back ever since. That time around, the island was covered in a shroud of thick fog – a stark contrast to the clear blue skies that greeted us on our most recent visit.

We took full advantage of the weather and made our way to the summit of Cadillac Mountain for stunning views of the shoreline below. After making our way down, we spent part of the afternoon on a nature cruise. The waters were too rough for the whale-watching cruise we had originally planned, but two bald eagle sightings more than made up for our unexpected change in plans! After our exploration at sea, we settled in to Bar Harbor Inn for cocktails overlooking Frenchman Bay.

Whenever  I pack for a trip, I often can’t help but plan my outfits around a central theme. In this case, I chose… STRIPES! I can’t tell you how simple it was to pack for my getaway once I’d settled on one key element. I simply tossed 3 long sleeve striped tees into my bag, picked coordinating pants and shoes, and was on my way.` My husband joked that I was dressed more for the French Riviera than for the New England Coast, but I can live with that.

I kept accessories to a minimum since this was just a short excursion, but one piece that Eric and I both made sure not to leave home without were our new wood watches given to us by the lovely folks at Jord.  Named after the Swedish word for earth, soil or land, Jord is dedicated to making simple, sustainable, and efficient timepieces crafted from high-quality wood.  We were both impressed by the natural beauty of the wood grain and the fact that the watches blend seamlessly with just about any casual outfit.
