Where: Last-minute Christmas shopping
What: Jacket (Old Navy), scarf (self-made), cardigan w/ custom lettering (Rugby), jeans (TJ Maxx), t-shirt (J. Crew) , boots (Michael Kors via eBay)
Man, shopping on Christmas Eve is the pits! Lines are long, pickings are slim, and frustration is high. Luckily, most of my shopping was complete the week before, and this excursion turned out to be more people-watching than actual buying.
After several failed attempts to score a vintage letterman sweater in pristine condition (and at a reasonable price) on eBay and at my local vintage shops, I struck gold when I ran across this modern version on sale at Rugby. The best part is that I got to customize it myself, and there are no moth holes! I had originally planned on channeling a 50s cheerleader by pairing it with my gold pleated skirt, but my husband talked me out of it. He’s a high school math teacher and apparently gets enough school spirit during his work week.
To round out my casual ensemble, I decided to take my new duck boots out for a spin. After drooling over Tommy Hilfiger’s version only to be snapped back into reality by the hefty $300 price tag, I was stoked to score this pair by Michael Kors for just $65 on eBay. Yes, the 4-inch heel makes them totally impractical for wearing in the snow. But I love ’em just the same.

Thanks. I love looking at them too!
This is such a cute and fun combo, love it! Can I ask, you mentioned that you bought one of those lil looms for making the scarves n such. I just bought the round looms and the long ones, and I’m wondering which one you use for the infinity scarves? Any tips on making them? Thanks!
For the scarf I’m wearing here: https://closetconfections.com/2010/12/closet-confection-twenty-six-and-counting%E2%80%A6/ I used the extra large round loom.
However, if you want to be able to double wrap your scarf the way I did in this post (I made this one with knitting needles), I recommend just using the long loom and joining the ends together when it’s done.
Nice! I love the shoes. You should do a guide to respectable ebay sellers or something. I often want to shop on ebay but am scared of the scam artists!
That’s a great idea! I’ll work on putting something together.
Those boots are absolutely the shiz. They’re to die for!
I am in love with your shoes – they are super fabulous!!!
Yeah, they are pretty awesome. I got into quite the bidding war on ebay for them.
I loooove your red plaid jacket! I was just looking at all the customizable things on Rugby (although I’m probably getting a non-customizable dress), I’m glad to hear you like yours so much and the knit looks like really good quality! And I really kind of wanted the taller version of those Tommy boots, but I know, the price is definitely prohibitive!
Yes, everything I’ve ever purchased from Rugby has always been top-notch quality. Although this dress did stretch out a bit when I wore it… which turned out to be a good thing actually. Those tall Tommy boots are awesome. I also recently saw that the short ones are on sale in stores (soldout online). But the price is still prefty hefty at $200.
OMG Kendra I LOVE the second outfit, well both of them, but the blue sweater with the K and the whole ensemble! DELECTABLE closet confection..and it looks frigid in those pics, way to keep up appearances 🙂 despite the bbrrrrrr cold !!
Hey Ashley! Thanks for stopping by. And yes it is freezing here. You’re lucky you got out before the weather turned yucky. Miss you!
