Closet Confection: Twelfth Night

2010_1118_outfit1

When: Thursday, November 18th, 2010

Where: Work

What: Sweater (Rugby, similar here), skirt ($36 Gap w/ 40% off coupon), shoes (Vince Camuto via Loehmann’s), bracelet (Gap), watch (Croton via Loehmann’s)

So, I think I may have boxed myself into a corner with these clever (hopefully) numerical post titles and cute (at least I think so) poses with the numbers…

I’m kinda runnin’ outta of ideas.

It turns out there are lots of clever sayings and catchy song lyrics for numbers 1-10, but it starts getting tricky after that.  For instance, what’s really special about 14, 19 or 22?

I got nothin’.

Also, this particular photo shoot ended with me turning to my husband and saying, “Oh crap, what should I do with the number this time?”

I guess that’s what I get for setting the bar so high for myself.

Writer’s block aside, there are some definite perks to this challenge.  Namely that I get to wear some of my favorite pieces over and over again.

This skirt is quickly becoming one of those favorites. In addition to being absolutely gorgeous, it’s just so versatile. I have several additional outfits planned around it using other items in my roundup, and I’m having a hard time choosing between them. My plan was to wear each of my items at least twice during the challenge, but now that I’m almost halfway through, I’m definitely gravitating towards a few key pieces.

What about you guys?  Are you equal opportunity remixers, or do you find yourself just wanting to wear a few of your favorite pieces over and over again during this challenge?

gorgeous! I just LOVE this outfit… looks amazing on you. I am definitely spending more time with some pieces than others. And I completely agree that I get a free pass to wear things I love over and over! This challenge has been very fun this go round!

Thanks, this is one of my favorite outfits so far. This is my first time doing the challenge, and it’s been great!

i’ve definitely been gravitating towards the same couple pieces and forgetting about other ones completely! kind of the same problem that i had earlier, which inspired me to do the remix in the first place! this week, i am challenging myself to explore those pieces and to try to limit the wearing of either jeans or the dreaded Oatmeal Cardigan as much as possible.

also, i love the rugged cable-knit with the pretty, flouncy skirt. wonderful juxtaposition!

LOVE that skirt. The whole outfit is great, and those stockings and shoes are perfect with the skirt – and really love that bracelet as well!

I almost bought this skirt after seeing you wear it earlier in the challenge… and then remembered that I can’t shop until the challenge is over. Hopefully it won’t sell out before then!

I’m repeating a number of my challenge pieces so much so that I’m not trying to make a point of not wearing them… or at least not more than once a week. I totally thought 30 was going to be limiting but really could have done just fine with 20… and hey then I’d only have to have done it for 20 days.

Are you itching to wear other items yet?

Numbers I can think of : lucky #13, 14/18/24 karat gold, Sweet 16, “You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only 17”, catch 22, 4 and 20 black birds (24),

That skirt really is amazing! Beautiful color.

oh, the skirt! you’re taunting me – i want to buy it already 😉

i’ve been trying to keep the remixing “equal opportunity,” but i’m starting to gravitate towards my item 30 – new boots. i’ve worn them 3 days in a row… 4 if you count later today.

I’m sure you’ll think of something super clever. 🙂 I love this skirt – I love how you paired it with the gray sweater – the gold buttons match perfectly!

I am noticing certain pieces I reach for over and over. My green boots go with EVERYTHING!!

Eric helped me out with a few suggestions after he saw this post, so I’m feeling more optimistic 🙂

LOVE THIS LOOK! I have been seeing a lot of cardies tucked into a-line skirt looks and LOVED them. I’ll have to try this when I finish the challenge (no A-lines in my 30!). I think this is my favorite look. Love the color, the tights, just all around FAB!!!

    Peace,
    Monique

I haven’t done a remix, but I tend to think I’d be a serial re-wearer of certain pieces. I really like the skirt, so I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a little remixing!
