When: Monday, July 5th, 2010

Where: Runnin’ around the city  and enjoying my last day of vacation before starting my new job

What: Dress ($40 vintage via eBay), belt (H&M), shoes ($20 Gap), handbag ($40 Michael Kors thrifted at Beacon’s Closet)

It had been almost a year and a half since my last real vacation, so I decided to go out with a bang!

This dress was waiting in the mail for me when I returned home from my trip, and I couldn’t wait to wear it.  I had previously placed myself on eBay restriction after purchasing one too many frocks, but I immediately caved when I saw this dress.  There was no auction, just a Buy It Now price of $80 and a link to Make an Offer.  I decided “what the heck” and made an offer 50% below the listed price, and the rest is history.

I felt so darn cool in this dress and even cooler wearing my thrifted designer handbag.  It was a little beat up when I bought it, but I touched it up myself using a TARRAGO Dye Kit as featured in my recent DIY post.  I think it came out rather fetchingly if I do say so myself.

It’s outfits like this that make me curse my crappy camera’s slow shutter speed because the twirl factor on this dress is amazing.  I’m starting to think that I should do another (longer) shopping hiatus and save up for one of those fancy schmancy DSLR cameras.

If I do decide to take the plunge, does anyone out there have any recommendations, keeping in mind that:

  1. I don’t want to spend a ton of money
  2. My resident photographer and I are novices
