When: Monday, January 31st, 2011
Where: Work
What: Blouse (Topshop), dress (H&M), tights (???), boots (Vince Camuto via Loehmann’s)
Ok folks, the remix has officially begun!
I decided to throw in some more challenging pieces this time around, and this sheer, tie-front, snake print, blouse/cape-thingy definitely fit the bill. Β It’s not something I’d normally be drawn to, but it’s turning out to be an extremely versatile little number.
I can’t wait to show you guys the amazing pattern-mixing I have planned for this baby in week 3!
In the mean time, I have a bit of a confession to make:
Even though I wore my first remix item on January 31st, I rationalized to myself that the 30 for 30 Challenge doesn’t officially begin until February 1st. And of course, the necessary result of that conclusion led me to one last shopping excursion after work.
But that’s it! Β I’m officially sticking to my guns from here on out for the next 30 days!
Nice blurry background! Lovin the sheer number mentioned above too, I have a sheer shirt of a similar print that is equally versatile. Sheer animal prints are like the new black, right?!

I like your “sheer, tie-front, snake print, blouse/cape-thingy”! This is a beautiful ensemble and a great way to start the challenge in full force.

That blouse over the dress is brilliant! What a great idea. You look so feminine but edgy at the same time.
Great piece! Good for you for challenging yourself further. I love the mix of feminine and rough in this outfit.
Wait, you already know what you’re wearing Week 3??? I’m not worthy…!
gorgeous!

Hey Kendra, I just love your posts! Cute outfit as always.
Can’t blame a girl for sneaking in a little last minute shopping, now can we? π I love the delicate layers in this look and can’t wait to see what else this remix brings out for you!
My sentiments exactly.
AWESOME. I love that you’ve got future outfits planned, I need to do that π And all the patterns in your items are thrilling! π
I always have a plan, lol! I think I’d freak out if I didn’t lay everything out beforehand. π
Such a pretty & feminine top. It looks so flowy lolz…not a word is that? Love to see how you remix this look!
I like that you used the blouse as a flowy cardigan, great idea.
I love this winter white and I love how your black tights disappear into your black shoes. So cute!
Love the snakeskin. I’m really curious what type of pattern-mixing you got up your sleeve, heh!
P.S. I’m branching into taking my outfit photographs outside. What’s your strategies for finding clear spots to take photos?
I can’t wait to see what other plans you have for this snakeskin top!
P.S. I’m trying my best to get into taking pictures outdoors. Any tips you have about finding good photo taking spots?
I love the snake print! I can’t wait to see what else you’ll be wearing with it!
Loving the snakeskin… great remix!
Wow, I absolutely *love* this outfit, you look so crazy sophisticated and feminine!
oooh,,, sophisticated. i like the sound of that! π
I LOVE how you’ve styled this…I thought this was an all-in-one dress. Looks fabulous!
Thanks! I was really pleased with how this came together as well.
Thanks, Leslie!
And I can’t wait to share either! π
I’m trying to get better at this, but I think finding a place that gets good light is the key. In general, there are two types of locations I gravitate towards: The first is just a flat, expansive backdrop like a brick wall (cool points if it’s covered in grafitti). And the second is a spot like you see here with either a long narrow road or a winding path behind me. I like the added sense of depth that it gives–just keep an eye out for oncoming traffic, lol! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, natural settings like woods (difficult to find in Manhattan) or waterfronts are also cool!
Thanks! It’s a really great trick for elongating the leg. It works with other colors as well if you get tired of plain black.
Thanks! I was kind of forced to since this top doesn’t have any buttons, lol!
It’s definitely a word over here in CC-Land… fo’ sho!
Hi Tiffany. Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks! I thought I’d try something different, and I love the way it turned out.
Thanks, Jen!
They most certainly are! I’m amazed at how versatile they can be.
