I’m pretty proud of the clever outfit concoctions that I’ve put together to help me avoid wearing suits to work.  But I have to say that this one takes the cake.

I got this blazer on a whim a while back, but I wasn’t really sure how I’d wear it.  Then divine inspiration struck at 6am as I stumbled out of bed one morning… or perhaps I was so bleary-eyed that I just grabbed two random items in the same color scheme.  Whatever the case, I don’t think I’ve ever received so many compliments on one of my work ensembles as this one.

Who knew clashing patterns could be so office-friendly?

Pattern mixing at its best.  That jacket would look great with a white skirt or pants, too.  And a yellow top.  I love that jacket.

Oh my gosh, you look fabulous! Makes me wish doctors could wear blazers, so I could wear this outfit to work in eleventy-billion years when I finally become one, haha. Now if you can show me how to rock the white coat, I will bow down to you!

I wear some pretty far-out outfits to work sometimes and those always wind up being the ones that get the most compliments. I think people are so used to seeing everybody dressed in greys and browns and blahs that when we show up with colours and patterns, it perks people up!

  • BajanBeauty July 6, 2011 at 2:26 pm

Love the pattern mixing, looks so fabulous!  Both pieces are definitely standout in a good way =)

  • Ana July 9, 2011 at 2:34 pm

Oh this is gorgeous. You mix prints so well, I’m always iffy about trying it, I’m afraid I’ll look ridiculous, but this is incredible – it all works so well together! I love it – it makes for some serious outfit inspiration!

I used to be wary of mixing patterns as well, but one trick is to stick to the same color palette like I did with this outfit.

I love this look!!!! I have to try something like this for work!
