Recently, Eric and I headed up to Poughkeepsie for a fall harvest bus tour.  We ate cheese, picked apples, drank wine, and just had a plain ol’ good time!  Since I don’t own any overalls, I went with my version of a rustic look.  I felt cute and comfy throughout the day, but I kinda wished I had remembered to wear my wellies instead of these boots.  Oh well, I’ll definitely remember next year because I have a feeling this little excursion will turn into an annual event.

The sweater, skirt, boots, and handbag are pretty much old news, but what I really want to talk about in this outfit is my necklace… or rather necklaces.  I’ve been wanting a chunky beaded necklace for a while, but all of the ones I really liked came with a hefty price tag.  I finally spotted one at Forever21, but it looked a little sparse, to say the least.  My solution: get two and layer them on top of one another.  Much better (IMHO)!  I was actually about ready to toss this sweater when I did my fall wardrobe switch, but adding a few baubles helped give it that oomph! that was missing.

How about you guys?  Thought about tossing any items recently, but changed your mind once you found a new way to jazz them up?

In a completely unplanned turn of events, I’m posting my third blue outfit in a row this week.  Let’s see how long I can keep up the blue streak!

I ordered this sweater online the day the Missoni for Target collection became available (before the infamous site crash).  Unfortunately I got an email the following day stating the item was on backorder, and I didn’t receive it until about a week ago.  To be honest, I was a little nervous about its arrival.  Why?  Because in the month or so that I waited for my sweater to ship, I saw numerous people wearing some of the other pieces in real life and… let’s just say I was less than impressed.

Fortunately, I wound up really liking my sweater once it finally arrived.  The quality is pretty decent, and the design is kind of funky and unusual (especially the sleeves, which I LOVE).  I have to admit that I’m glad most of the other items were already sold out when I made my purchase, because I think I could have easily gotten caught up in the frenzy and overspent on some lackluster pieces.  And let’s be real guys, I’d much rather scour eBay and score an authentic vintage or second-hand Missoni piece (like this scarf).

And what about you all?  Did you purchase anything from this collection, and if so, how do you feel about it now that the madness has died down?
