Closet Confection: Pretty Young Thing

When: Tuesday, April 20th

Where: Client meeting, shopping, and dinner at Otto Pizzeria

What: Trench coat (Miss Sixty), periwinkle dress & necklace (H&M), bangle bracelets (Lyric Culture/H&M), shoes (Michael Kors)

Since I had a client meeting today with a hip conference and event planning agency, I wanted to look put together and professional without wearing a suit.  Tasteful, figure-flattering dress and a great pair of heels are a great go-to option for days like this.  Also, since my job can be kinda boring at times, I like to jazz up my wardrobe as much as possible with unique accessories.  That’s where the necklace and bracelets came into play.

While the necklace is a great statement piece by itself, I absolutely love this bracelet.  It’s actually part of a 3-piece set from Lyric Culture, and it features the title and lyrics to Michael Jackson’s PYT (Pretty Young Thing).  I am a huge Michael Jackson fan.  But after determining that I couldn’t quite pull off the red leather jacket look from his Beat It video (even though I do know all the dance moves)…

I decided to pay homage with these bracelets instead.

When: Monday, April 19th

Where: Work

What: Ribbed cardigan ($20 Gap clearance sale), jeweled tee (J. Crew), silk shantung skirt (J. Crew), shoes (Nine West)

Even though spring is well under way, there was still a chill in the air when I woke up this morning.  The pretty pastel colors in this outfit definitely remind me of warmer days, and the sweater helped keep me warm and cozy.

Speaking of this sweater…

It used to shed and pill like crazy when I first got it.  I tried an electric clothes shaver (effective, but way too time-consuming), followed by a sweater stone (somewhat effective, but left black dust all everywhere).  I was about ready to give up when I decided to try a disposable razor.  JACKPOT!  It worked super-fast and with minimal mess.  I was so excited that I went out and bought two more (one in grey and another in navy blue).  I told you I like to buy things in multiples!
