Closet Confection: Modly In Love

2010_0907_outfit2

2010_0907_outfit1

When: Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

Where: ‘Round the Office + Client Meeting

What: Dress ($9.99 HoneyChild.Vintage Boutique), belt (Calvin Klein), shoes (Moda)

My Husband: Hey! The 60’s called, and they want their dress back…

Me: Sorry, they can’t have it.  It’s mine now, buuaahahahaha!  And p.s., save the lame outfit jokes for your students.

I was originally planning to shorten this dress to make it a mini.  However, leaving it this length makes it office appropriate. Also, I keep forgetting that I can’t sew, nor do I own a sewing machine.  Both of these situations are ones that I plan to rectify by year’s end… I’ll keep you posted on how that goes.

And oh yeah, in case you forgot… check out this month’s vintage necklace giveaway!

Closet Confection: It’s Time Eyelet My Hair Down

When: Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Where: Work

What: Dress (Jean Paul Gaultier for Target), sweater (Gap), shoes ($20 Guess via Filene’s Basement)

Ok, my hair’s still up, but I couldn’t think of another title with the word eyelet in it…

In any case, this outfit is further proof of my love for Target’s Go! International designer collaborations.  I snatched this one up on the clearance rack one lucky afternoon and have been dying to wear it ever since.  I was trying to hold out for a red cardigan, but that never materialized.  Once I realized that the summer was winding down (and I’d better where this thing before Labor Day) I decided that a navy blue would do just fine… and be patriotic at the same time!

When: Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Where: Work + Cocktails & Networking @ 230 Fifth

What: Dress (H&M), necklace (H&M), shoes ($20 Moda via Filene’s Basement)

NYC was pretty much a soggy mess during the first half of last week, so I couldn’t muster up any outfit pics until Thursday.  After a hard day on the grind, it was nice to unwind and catch up with some of my colleagues over drinks and appetizers.  If you’re ever in the city, you should definitely check out 230 Fifth.  There’s an all-weather rooftop garden (that makes you feel like you can reach out and touch the Empire State Building), and rumor has it that they hand out red snuggies in the winter.  I enjoyed myself so much that I went back that Saturday for brunch and enjoyed the most delicious Grand Marnier french toast!

Even though the rain had cleared away, there was still a bit of a chill in the air… hence the scarf.  But if I thought that fall was on its way, then boy was I wrong!  It’s been pretty much 80-90 degree weather ever since. And I’m currently on a mad dash to wear all of my favorite sundresses and all-white ensembles before Labor Day.

Wish me luck!
