Closet Confection: Put a Little Prep In Your Step

2010_1003_outfit_1

When: Not sure (totally spazzed and forgot to post)

Where: Movies Union Square: The Social Network

What: Jacket ($35 H&M), shirt (Polo Ralph Lauren), skirt (Forever 21), handbag (Kenneth Cole via Loehmann’s), ankle boots ($50 Vince Camuto via Loehmann’s)

I put this outfit together after being inspired by a J. Crew window display while hanging out in Rockefeller Center.

I liked this outfit a lot and knew that I already had similar pieces in my wardrobe. So, I snapped a picture to reference later on.

I don’t shop at J. Crew too often (unless there’s a sale), but I try and get my hands on every single catalog.  Thumbs up to their stylists because they do a killer job of putting together great looks. I always find outfit inspirations whenever I flip through one.

Prep isn’t my usual style, but I love taking pieces like a polo button-down shirt or an argyle sweater and pairing them with sassier items such as mini skirts and ankle boots.

For preppy inspiration, I recommend the following reads:

Do you guys like to rock preppy looks?  And if so, do you prefer to keep it traditional or mix it up a little?

Closet Confection: Shades of Gray

2010_1002_outfit_1

When: Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

Where: Running errands + Lunch @ Bill’s Burger & Bar

What: Sweater dress ($45 Banana Republic), denim jacket (Forever 21), socks ($7 Ralph Lauren via Century 21), ankle boots ($40 Banana Republic), handbag (Tommy Hilfiger via Filene’s Basement)

Since I knew I’d be running all over town, I wanted to wear something stylish yet comfortable.

This dress definitely fit the bill as it’s made from the softest wool/cashmere blend and feels just like I’m wearing a cozy sweatshirt.

The shoes on the other hand, were an EPIC FAIL!

I bought them earlier this year at an end of season sale, and this was my first time wearing them.  They seemed comfy enough when I first put them on, but I don’t know what on earth possessed me to try and break them in on a day when I had to do a lot of walking.  You have no idea how much I wanted to take these things off by the time I got home.

Also, I know I mentioned a few posts ago that I wanted to try and eat healthier, but in my house Saturday = Burger Day!  And I couldn’t resist trying the newly opened Bill’s Buger & Bar in Rockefeller Center. I think I made up for it with all of the walking I did.

Oh, and did I mention that I cooked dinner myself for the first time in weeks?!

Closet Confection: They're Jingling Baby

When: Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Where: Brunch @ Rue 57 + Angelika Film Center

What: Sweater (7 For All Mankind), Dress (Forever 21), socks (Juicy Couture), boots (Steve Madden)

Last Sunday was all about being comfortable, so I slipped on some cozy knee socks, comfy boots, and my softest, warmest “movie sweater” (I have several, by the way).

On another note, these have to be the loudest earring EVER.  Seriously, I had to take them off during the movie so as not to disturb anyone.  I hearby dedicate this song to them.
