When: Saturday, September 25th, 2010

Where: Boppin’ Around Town

What: Dress (Forever 21), bandana ($2 thrifted), sneakers ($40 Keds via Gap), handbag ($100 Michael Kors via TJ Maxx)

I’ll admit, I’m not much of a Bruce Springstein fan (I’m more of a MoTown girl). But I did feel pretty Boss-y with my red bandana (and now I have that song stuck in my head).  I even slapped on some red lipstick for good measure.  The lipstick lasted all of 15 minutes before I wiped it off (not a big makeup person either).

If you recall, I purchased these Keds in the summer when the strap broke on my favorite sandals.  These shoes aren’t my usual steez, but I did promise to try and work them into some additonal outfits.  I have to say, I was pretty comfy bouncing around town in my new kicks.

Will I be giving up my high heels and fancy footwear permanently…? Not a chance! But it is nice to occasionally let the tootsies take a breather.

When: Blanking on the date, but some time in September

Where: Work + Dinner in Union Square

What: Dress ($30 Milly thrifted via Beacon’s Closet), necklace ($8 vintage via eBay), shoes (Nicole Miller)

I think this dress is one of my favorite thrift store finds.  If my entire wardrobe came from Milly, I think I’d be cool with that.  I love Michelle Smith’s colorful, classic, feminine designs just that much.  I’m not sure why anyone would give this dress up, but their loss is my gain!

When: Saturday, September 18th, 2010

Where: Thrifting in Williamsburg + Dinner @ Fornino’s

What: Red jacket ($35 H&M), dress ($28 The Kissing Tree Vintage Apparel), tights (Calvin Klein), shoes (Vince Camuto)

I have a love/hate relationship with thrift store shopping.  On one hand, I absolutely love finding unique items on the cheap.  On the other hand, I have terrible dust and mold allergies which always seem to flare up just as I’m about to pounce on a bargain.  I was literally in tears and sneezing all over the fitting room while trying on a gorgeous $20 Tracy Reese dress… Oh the things I do for a bargain!

It took longer than usual to get through this photo shoot because I kept having to blow my nose in between takes.  You’d really think I’d learn to pop a Benadryl before these excursions already! Luckily, I remembered my trusty neti pot that night, and all was well by the next morning.
