Closet Confection: True Blue

Closet confection outfit of the day: True Blue
Closet confection outfit of the day: True Blue

When: Saturday, May 1st

Where: “Window”-shopping on 5th Avenue + Japanese BBQ

What: Dress ($20 H&M), wedge sandals ($30 Cynthia Vincent for Target)

This weekend got off to a GORGEOUS start with a high of 81 degrees.  Very exciting!  It actually felt a little cooler than that since it was so breezy outside.  And the flutter sleeves on this dress made me feel like a little butterfly.

There was one major sour note about this outfit.  The dress is totally see-through, so I had to wear a full-body slip… there was just no way around it.  This would have been ok, except the back was a little low and my slip kept showing.  Of course, I didn’t realize this until after I left the house.

**Sigh**

Oh well, a quick trip to the Ladies Lounge in Sak’s and two safety pins later, all was right with the world.  Which reminds me to share with you, I am almost NEVER without safety pins and/or garment tape.  I keep them in my closet, the bathroom medicine cabinet, my desk drawer at work, my gym bag, my purse, you name it.  They are truly life-savers and must-haves in any fashionistas wardrobe arsenal.

When: Saturday, April 24th

Where: Bookstore, Lucky Burger and a walkabout town

What: Hooded jacket (Rugby by Ralph Lauren), v-neck tee (J.Crew), jeggings (T.J. Maxx), yellow gladiator sandals (Cynthia Vincent for Target), brown suede handbag (Kenneth Cole)

I was SOOOOOOO TIRED earlier after doing a day of volunteering with Hands on New York.  I spent the entire morning helping to clean up and revitalize Momma & Poppa Jones Community Garden out in Brooklyn. I even made a few new “friends”.  Check me out with my buddy, Gilbert:

Afterwards, I came home, showered, and fell asleep on the couch while watching an episode of Murder She Wrote on Netflix.  When I woke up, I was ravenous but still a little sore from all the raking and weeding.  Needless to say, I just wanted to be cozy (but still cute).  So, I just threw on a hoodie, some stretchy jeans (which are apparently called jeggings now), and off I went to grab a burger and take a moonlit stroll with my guy.

Closet Raid: Wedged in Between

I received a very important phone call today during lunch…

It was my husband informing me that my new Cynthia Vincent shoes from Target had arrived.  Yay!  I couldn’t wait to try them on when I got home.  I went a little overboard and purchased 3 pairs: 2 wedges and 1 set of flats.  I decided that the flats weren’t all that flattering (pardon the pun).  So, I’ll either be returning those or selling them on eBay.  The wedges, however, did not disappoint.  They are super-comfy, very cute (and dare I say, sexy), and run true to size.

I enjoyed wearing them so much that I decided to pull out some of my other favorite wedges and snap pics of those as well.  The timing couldn’t have been more perfect since I recently got a much needed pedicure after a long winter of toe hibernation.

Below are my pics.  The first two are Cynthia Vincent for Target, and the rest (in descending order) are BCBG, Michael Kors, Banana Republic, and Nine West.
