When: Friday, August 23rd, 2010

Where: Dinner in Alphabet City

What: Dress ($20 Liberty of London for Target on sale), shoes ($20 Charlotte Russe)

If you’ve been following my blog, you’ll know that I love buying things in multiples.  So yes, I do have this exact same dress in another print.  However, I’d have to say that this one is my favorite of the two.  I just love the colors and the pattern.  It has a sort of 60s vintage vibe, which is why I decided to go with the retro-looking photography.  But because the colors on this dress are so vivid, I wanted to leave you with some clearer pics as well:

And of course, I couldn’t leave out a closeup of my awesome pink heels.  They make me so happy!

When: Friday, May 28th, 2010

Where: Bridgewaters at Southstreet Seaport

What: Gown ($69.99 Zac Posen for Target), velvet blazer (Banana Republic), shoes ($10 Steve Madden outlet store), clutch (Forever 21)

Yep, that’s right folks: My husband and I went to prom this weekend.

AND WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!

My hubby teaches high school here in the city, so we both went to chaperone and to support his senior advisees on their big night.  I wasn’t sure what to expect since it’s been 10 years since my senior prom, but I will say that my husband made a much better prom date than the one I had in high school.

I also am very happy with yet another purchase from Zac Posen’s Target collection.  At first, I was going to return this dress because I couldn’t figure out where I’d wear an actual evening gown… with a train!  But I just couldn’t bring myself to do it because the dress was so freakin’ amazing.  It turned out to be a good idea that I held off.

The “photo shoot” for this post was the most fun I’ve had since I started Closet Confections.  It was really windy on Friday, so my train and hair were blowing in the wind and really helped pump up the glam factor.

To celebrate the fact that I’m way less self-conscious now than I was in high school, I decided to go with BOLD accessories.  Big red earrings. Bright red over-sized clutch. Purple 5-inch platform heels.

All in all, we had a great evening.  Now I can’t wait for homecoming next fall!

When: Friday, May 14th

Where: An Off-Broadway show + Ethiopian food

What: Dress ($40 Zac Posen for Target), belt (H&M), ankle boots ($40 Vince Camuto via Century21)

Ever since I braved the Zac Posen for Target Party I couldn’t wait to unleash this dress.  I usually consider myself more of a lioness, but I thought this pink tiger print was way too cute to pass up.  I originally styled it with the belt that came with it (in the same print) and a pair of black patent pumps.  But then I decided to edge it up a bit with black ankle boots and black belt.  And boy did my feet thank me later after we walked 4 avenues to get to the theater!

The play we saw, Killing Women, was a comedy about female assasins trying to climb the “corporate” ladder and the perils they face.  Some of the acting was a bit off (but got better in the second act), but overall I thought it was pretty hilarious.  I’d recommend checking it out, especially if you can score discount tix.
