Happy Monday, Peeps!

Yesterday marked the first official day of summer, and I kicked off the occasion with an off-the-shoulder frock that seems to be all the rage this season. I decided to go full-on boho with a easy hairdo (my signature look as of late) and a pair of lace-up gladiator sandals that I’ve been wearing nonstop.

I also took my new Axiom watch from the lovely folks at Citizen out for a spin. If you follow me on the ‘gram, you know that I had the chance to visit their store in the heart of Times Square earlier this month (and see my name on the marquis!). While there, I learned a lot about the company and the fact that you NEVER have to replace the battery in any of their watches! Can you believe it?! Apparently, they’re automatically recharged by solar power. I kid you not when I say that one of my favorite watches has needed its battery replaced for over 6 months, but I’ve just been too busy to get it done. I still wear it in hopes that it will spur me to get a new battery while I’m out and about, but so far I’ve had no such luck. In any case, I was stoked to learn that I’d never have to deal with that with my new wrist bling… and neither will one lucky reader!

Enter my giveaway below for a chance to receive your very own Axiom watch by Citizen, valued $195. Contest ends June 29th at midnight Eastern Standard Time, so hurry up and submit your entry today!

Say ‘Yes’ to the Dress! {Anthropologie Clearance Sale}

anthropologie dress{Anthropologie Dress, Prada Baroque Sunglasses, Lanvin Sandals (unavailable, but TONS of other options on steep discount here!), Louis Vuitton ‘Neverfull’ Handbag}

One of my steadfast shopping axioms is that if I see an awesome dress on sale, I buy it… regardless of whether or not I have something to wear it to immediately. Doesn’t it always seem like you can never find a suitable outfit whenever a special event pops up?! I hate that feeling, but fortunately I always have a steady rotation of pretty dresses to choose from since adopting this rule a few years ago.

A couple of weeks ago, I spied this gorgeous dress hanging on the Anthro clearance rack. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but all doubts were cast aside as soon as I put it on. I’ve been wearing it nonstop ever since. Unfortunately, it’s sold out online, but there were TONS left in the store last time I checked.

In the mean time, the Anthropologie clearance sale is in full swing. Below are some other goodies that have caught my eye…

I can’t think of a better way to kick off the summer than with a relaxing weekend in Bar Harbor. Eric and I first made our way to this summer playground almost two years ago, and we’ve been itching to go back ever since. That time around, the island was covered in a shroud of thick fog – a stark contrast to the clear blue skies that greeted us on our most recent visit.

We took full advantage of the weather and made our way to the summit of Cadillac Mountain for stunning views of the shoreline below. After making our way down, we spent part of the afternoon on a nature cruise. The waters were too rough for the whale-watching cruise we had originally planned, but two bald eagle sightings more than made up for our unexpected change in plans! After our exploration at sea, we settled in to Bar Harbor Inn for cocktails overlooking Frenchman Bay.

Whenever  I pack for a trip, I often can’t help but plan my outfits around a central theme. In this case, I chose… STRIPES! I can’t tell you how simple it was to pack for my getaway once I’d settled on one key element. I simply tossed 3 long sleeve striped tees into my bag, picked coordinating pants and shoes, and was on my way.` My husband joked that I was dressed more for the French Riviera than for the New England Coast, but I can live with that.

I kept accessories to a minimum since this was just a short excursion, but one piece that Eric and I both made sure not to leave home without were our new wood watches given to us by the lovely folks at Jord.  Named after the Swedish word for earth, soil or land, Jord is dedicated to making simple, sustainable, and efficient timepieces crafted from high-quality wood.  We were both impressed by the natural beauty of the wood grain and the fact that the watches blend seamlessly with just about any casual outfit. Oh, and another unexpected bonus is that they give off the most delicious pine scent when you wear them!

If you’re thinking about getting one of your own (or for a friend!) and would like to see how hundreds of other folks have styled their Jord timepieces, be sure to check out the hashtag #JordWatch on Instagram.
