I rediscovered this dress tucked away in the back of my closet, and I’m so glad that I did. ‘Hello old friend… it’s so nice to see you again!’

After acquiring a sewing machine last Christmas, I finally mustered up the resolve to actually make something. Well, that’s not entirely true. I attempted to make a skirt from a store-bought pattern last month, but I wound up cutting the material only half as wide as I was supposed to (long story, I’ll spare myself the embarrassment you the details). After that failed attempt, I remembered this post from What Would a Nerd Wear on how to make the “World’s Easiest Skirt”. The title sounded promising, so I decided to give it a shot…
BEST DECISION EVER!
As someone who’d never used a sewing machine before, I’m pretty pleased with the results. I felt so crafty afterwards that I used some of my leftover scraps to make this bracelet (I just wrapped the fabric around a plain plastic bangle and secured the ends with a knot on the inside). I then started to make matching legwarmers and a bandana, but Eric told me to go to bed because I was obviously delirious with exhaustion…

As much as I am a Glee fan, I just want to start off this post by stating that its title is in no way an endorsement of this song.
Ok, I’m glad we got that cleared up!
Yesterday was pretty dreary with the rain and all, so I decided to go with a simple but cheery ensemble to combat the grey skies. Since pink is one of my favorite colors, I can’t help but smile every time I wear this dress. Click the pics below to check out two different ways I’ve styled it up in the past:
