When in doubt… wear black, white and red. That’s pretty much my mantra.

Who knew that a bright yellow blazer could become such a wardrobe staple?! I bought this cheery little jacket last week, and I just can’t seem to take it off. I was a little skeptical when I tried it on in the store. But once I got home, I was amazed at how many outfits I was able to build around it.
While I still crave variety in my sartorial choices, lately I’ve been on a mission to eliminate the unnecessary fluff in my wardrobe. To that end, I tossed/donated 4 ridiculously large bags of items over the weekend and set two rules for all new purchases:
I still have a bit more purging to do, but I can’t even begin to tell you how great it feels to cut the crap and just be left with the items you love!
Am I the only one who’s been bitten by the spring cleaning bug, or are any of you cleaning out your closets as well? Also, I’d love to hear if anyone else employs any neat tricks or guidelines for justifying new purchases.

In general, I’m not too concerned about following trends. However, one trend that I’m extremely excited about this season is the asymmetrical hemline. You can never go wrong with a little black dress, and I love how this one has a slightly relaxed feel. But since I’m no slouch, I of course had to pair it with killer heels.
P.S.
Please excuse the visible remote in my hand in the first shot. I forgot to toss it aside before the shutter released, but I thought the pic was too cute not to share!
