When: Saturday, September 18th, 2010

Where: Thrifting in Williamsburg + Dinner @ Fornino’s

What: Red jacket ($35 H&M), dress ($28 The Kissing Tree Vintage Apparel), tights (Calvin Klein), shoes (Vince Camuto)

I have a love/hate relationship with thrift store shopping.  On one hand, I absolutely love finding unique items on the cheap.  On the other hand, I have terrible dust and mold allergies which always seem to flare up just as I’m about to pounce on a bargain.  I was literally in tears and sneezing all over the fitting room while trying on a gorgeous $20 Tracy Reese dress… Oh the things I do for a bargain!

It took longer than usual to get through this photo shoot because I kept having to blow my nose in between takes.  You’d really think I’d learn to pop a Benadryl before these excursions already! Luckily, I remembered my trusty neti pot that night, and all was well by the next morning.

When: Saturday, September 11th, 2010

Where: Lunch @ NYU Campus + Super Duper Awesome Blogger Meetup @Hecho En Dumbo

What: Dress ($14.99 The Kissing Tree Vintage), shoes (Forever 21), vintage tassle necklace ($13.95 Bodhi’s Junque), ring (H&M), bracelets (Pippin Vintage Jewelry)

I had a funtastic time this past week attending fashion-bloggy type events!  I’ve been learning so much and connecting with so many great people, and I’m just really excited to take this blog to the next level for all of my readers.  My head is swimming with all of the ideas and possibilities.  So thanks to everyone who’s stuck with Closet Confections this far… THINGS ARE ONLY GOING TO GET BETTER!

Now on to my outfit…

Just like last time, I had a minor spaz-attack when trying to select an outfit for this event.  Luckily, this dress had just come in the mail.  It was a lot shorter than I was expecting, so wearing it to work was out of the question (unless I wear it tucked into a skirt… hmmmm…).  But I thought it would be perfect for a night out with the girls.

Speaking of the girls…

Don’t they all look amazing?!  Trust me, they’re even more fun in person.  Thanks so much to From Skirts to Skillets for organizing such a great event. Special shout out to A Sequin Dress at Breakfast and Le Kiss Kiss for letting me steal some photos (my husband had the camera during my photo shoot earlier in the day, and I forgot to get it back from him).  And it was also great hanging out with Spicy Candy DC and Much to My Delight.  These ladies all rock, so be sure to check out their blogs.

If you’re in the photo, and I forgot to link your blog just shoot me an email.

Also, don’t miss out on this month’s vintage necklace giveaway!

Closet Confection: Modly In Love

2010_0907_outfit2

2010_0907_outfit1

When: Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

Where: ‘Round the Office + Client Meeting

What: Dress ($9.99 HoneyChild.Vintage Boutique), belt (Calvin Klein), shoes (Moda)

My Husband: Hey! The 60’s called, and they want their dress back…

Me: Sorry, they can’t have it.  It’s mine now, buuaahahahaha!  And p.s., save the lame outfit jokes for your students.

I was originally planning to shorten this dress to make it a mini.  However, leaving it this length makes it office appropriate. Also, I keep forgetting that I can’t sew, nor do I own a sewing machine.  Both of these situations are ones that I plan to rectify by year’s end… I’ll keep you posted on how that goes.

And oh yeah, in case you forgot… check out this month’s vintage necklace giveaway!
