I think this is a record for me.

In other news, this weekend’s thrift “browsing” expedition with my husband was a little excruciating because we wound up at two of my favorite spots, The Cure Thrift Shop and No Relation Vintage.

He walked away with a number of goodies. I, on the other hand, walked away with zilch because of the shopping ban.

Tell me folks, how is that fair?

Closet Confection: Fearless Fourteen

2010_1121_outfit1

When: Sunday, November 21st, 2010

Where: Central Park

What: Jacket ($35 H&M), blouse ($40 H&M), brooch (H&M), hooded scarf (H&M), leather gloves (Michael Kors via Century 21), velvet leggings ($12 Romeo & Juliet Couture via HauteLook), boots (thrifted via Beacon’s Closet), sunglasses (Marc Jacobs via Nordstrom’s Rack)

This post is a little out of order (I’ll post Saturday’s outfit tomorrow), but I had just finished adding all of the little 14’s to the above picture before realizing this was actually outfit number 15. Yes, I admit that I sometimes have trouble counting once I run out of fingers.

I don’t do it nearly often enough, but walking through Central Park is one of my favorite past times.  It just feels so New York to me.  I remember staying at a hotel right at the entrance to the park my first time visiting here as a teenager.  It was the summer before senior year in high school, and I knew right then and there that this is where I wanted to be.

2010_1121_outfit3

So I applied to a university here, got in, and the rest is history.

Flash forward quite a few years later, and it’s amazing to me how fresh and exciting the city can still feel. There’s always some new favorite hangout to be discovered or a never-ventured-upon side street to explore.

2010_1121_outfit4

I know it’s totally uncool, but sometimes I get a little giddy when I’m walking past a famous landmark or passing by a site where a scene from one of my favorite movies was shot.

Unfortunately, most days it’s all too easy to get so caught up in my routine that I barely even notice the things that once struck me with awe.

2010_1121_outfit5

That’s when I know I need to stop and smell the asphalt… to remember why I came here in the first place… and to take notice of the things that make the city so special.

Closet Confection: Thirteenth Inning

2010_1119_outfit1

When: Friday, November 19th, 2010

Where: Work + Housewarming Party

What: Blazer (Banana Republic), shirt (vintage & thrifted), jeans (Forever 21), shoes (Via Spiga), handbag ($99 Cole Haan via RueLaLa)

Guys, I’ve been so focused on my wardrobe for the past two weeks that I completely forgot something very important…

Thanksgiving Dinner!

What the heck?! I usually obsess over my menu for weeks at a time, trying out recipes here and there, up until the big day finally arrives.

2010_1119_outfit4

This year, I’ve done absolutely nada!  To be quite honest, I’m a little shocked.

2010_1119_outfit5

Not to worry, I’ve got a few tried-and-true turkey recipes in the arsenal, and I also grabbed the latest copy of Food Network Magazine just in case I want to try something new.  I expect to have my menu all planned out before I go to bed this evening.

2010_1119_outfit2

And what about you all?  What are your plans for Thanksgiving this year?  Any special recipes you think I should try?  As I said, I love food, so I’m all ears (and mouth… and nose… and stomach)!
