As many of you probably noticed, my poor blog was down for almost 24 hours! Did you just catch how I totally flattered myself by assuming that you guys check my blog everyday?

Anyway, it’s been all over the geek tech news outlets, so I’ll spare you the gory details. Let it suffice to say that I was in serious withdrawal from not being able to make any posts. I’ve been working on moving my blog to WordPress for a few weeks, and this latest outage has only furthered my resolve to pull the plug over here at Tumblr. I’ve imported all of my old posts, and now I just need to figure out how to map my comments to the new platform. Once that’s done, I’m outtie like a belly button!

On another note, I have some fantabulous news to share…

Of course, I still have another weeks worth of outfits to post. But tomorrow marks the first official day that I can get reacquainted with the rest of my wardrobe. YIPPEE!

2010_1129_outfit1

When: Monday, November 29th, 2010

Where: Work

What: Sweater (Tommy Hilfiger), skirt (Club Monaco), boots (Michael Kors)

In general, I’ve been having a fun time with the 30 for 30 Challenge.  But some days, it just feels like it’s been dragging on f-o-r-e-v-e-r…

Monday was one of those days.  I was truly uninspired by my slimmed down wardrobe and didn’t really feel like putting much thought into my outfit or accessories.

Ho-hum…

Luckily, I got my mojo back later on in the week.  I’m a little behind on posts, but stay tuned!

When: Sunday, November 28th, 2010

Where: Dinner @ Eataly

A while back, I purchased this tie lot on eBay but never got around to wearing any of them.

Then, I got my Rugby holiday lookbook in the mail this weekend and was immediately inspired to finally try one out.

Not sure if I ever mentioned this, but I have a slight obsession with Rugby style.  I don’t do the preppy look that often, but when I do, their blog is usually my first stop for inspiration.  I also love visiting their Manhattan store because the employees are usually dressed to the nines, as evidenced by their many intra-store style challenges.

For any of you ladies looking to rock a men’s tie, here are a few tips I’d like to share:

  1. Keep it relaxed and playful. Remember, you’re not trying to impersonate a dude. I toned down the severity by pairing mine with a shirt dress, keeping the top button undone and popping my collar.
  2. Try a little boy’s tie. I’ve tried wearing one of my husband’s ties before, but it was way too long, and the knot was larger than I would’ve liked.
  3. Don’t be afraid to mix and match colors and patterns. Now, I probably wouldn’t recommend this particular combo for a dude. But for me, it struck just the right note of quirkiness that I was looking for.
  4. Learn how to tie it yourself. I did enlist Eric’s help the first time I tried a tie, but now I’m proud to say that I can tie my own Windsor knot, thank you very much! I learned how using the easy-to-follow instructions on this site.

Despite my dashing neckwear, I felt ultra-feminine and ready to shine that night when we went out for dinner.

I’d love to hear from you guys what looks you like to steal from the boys.
