Closet Confection: Entering the Fourth Dimension

2010_1110_outfit3

When: Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

Where: Work + Dinner @ Hill Country Chicken

What: Jacket ($30 Old Navy), scarf ($10 Old Navy), turtleneck ($20 French Connection via Filene’s Basement), skirt (Club Monaco), boots (Michael Kors via Loehmann’s), earrings (Privileged via HauteLook), necklace (Pippin Vintage Jewelry), bracelets (Lyric Culture via HauteLook)

We’ve been having picture perfect weather in NYC for the past two days, so I decided to take advantage of it by wearing a classic fall outfit.

Turtleneck? Check!

Pleated skirt? Check!

Mixed plaids? Check!

Pea coat? Check!

Warm scarf? Check!

Yep, it looks like we’ve got all the bases pretty much covered in this outfit.

Add a pair of cool shades and some funky gold jewelry, and I’m all set and ready to go!

On another note, I’m starting to wonder how long I’ll be able to keep up these numerical post titles…

Third Times the Charm

2010_1109_outfit4

When: Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

Where: Work + Dinner @ Bouchon Bakery

What: Tunic (H&M), sleeveless trench (H&M), belt (Oscar de la Renta via Century 21), tights (Hue), boots (thrifted via Beacon’s Closet)

Day 3 of the 30 for 30 challenge, and still going strong!

I’m finding that I have so much extra time on my hands in the morning now that I’m not worried about what I’m going to wear. Maybe I should actually start using the gym in my building…

2010_1109_outfit1

Naaahhhhh…

I think I’ll just sleep in a little longer instead.

2010_1109_outfit3

Or perhaps I could go back to my former daily practice of brewing a mug of herbal tea and meditating on how I’d like my day to unfold. I used to do that when I first went into sales and it really helped calm my nerves and made me more productive. Yeah, I’m deep and philosophical like that. Don’t let the preppy stripes and khaki fool you!

And what about you other remixers out there? Are you finding that you spend more or less time thinking about what to wear now that your choices are limited?

Closet Confection: It Takes Two To Make It Outta Sight

2010_1108_outfit3

When: Monday, November 8th, 2010

Where: Work

What: Coat (Miss Sixty via Burlington Coat Factory), hat (Forever 21), shirt ($10 vintage and thrifted), dress ($20 Ben Sherman via Daffy’s), belt (???), tights ($6 Emilio Cavalli via Daffy’s), shoes ($50 Vince Camuto via Loehmann’s)

I’m only two days in and this 30 for 30 remix is already starting to have its perks.

2010_1108_outfit2

As I mentioned yesterday, I’ve become way more obsessive over accessories… to the point where I’ve laid out my entire work wardrobe for the rest of the week all the way down to the earrings.

And because I love making lists, I of course have this all typed out in a tidy little excel spreadsheet.

It’s a sickness, don’t even try and help me.

In any case, my propensity toward excel spreadsheets helped me out immensely this morning as I was getting ready for work.  The daylight savings time switcheroo completely screwed with the alarm clock setting on my iPhone, leaving me with, horror of horrors, only 15 minutes to get ready for work this morning. Eek!

Luckily, I was able to pull together a well thought-out ensemble in no time at all by consulting my handy little list.

In other fashion news, I’ll let you guys in on a little secret…

I purchased this shirt in the little boys’ section of one of my favorite vintage thrift stores.  Since I consider myself to be a curvy gal, shopping in the kids’ section never really occured to me until I stumbled upon this shirt. I didn’t even realize it was a boy’s shirt until I went to try it on and noticed the buttons were on the wrong side and there were collar stays still left in.

2010_1108_outfit4

My husband had to explain to me what collar stays were.  And after he did, I was all kinds of jealous.  Why don’t women’s shirts come with collar stays?  Why do we have to be the ones stuck with floppy, droppy collars?

I’m just sayin’…

And lest I forget, I couldn’t possibly give this post the above title without dropping a funky track.  With that being said…

One, Two, Three… Hit It!
