Links à la Mode – Costume Drama: A Break From All Things Outfit

Yippee! I just found out my Friend Friday: Product Placement vlog was included in IFB’s Weekly Roundup alongside some other amazing blog posts. Definitely check out this week’s roundup!

It’s the Halloween season, when some of us choose to experience the thrill (or horror) of looking nothing like ourselves for a night. For those of you who blog or socially post your outfits, perhaps it’s a chance to take a break from the judgmental eye of the spotlight (consider Love Brown Sugar and One More’s pieces on the subject) – one night where you turn in “looking good” for looking scary, time period-accurate, or just … a little sexier than usual. Inspired? Find last minute costume inspiration from Tickle Me Chic and more.

And for those of us who don’t celebrate the witching hour, there’s still a chance to step away from the closet and remind ourselves that great lingerie, shoes, bags, and jewels can make even a white tee and jeans look scary good.

Closet Confection: Wine & Food Festival

foodfest8

When: Friday, October 8th, 2010

Where: Cooking Channel’s Meatpacking Uncorked

What: Jacket (Andrew Marc), circle scarf (H&M), tunic (H&M), leggings (Romeo & Juliet Couture via Hautelook), boots (thrifted via Beacon’s Closet)

I know, I know… I am soooo late posting any pics from my birthday weekend.  The truth is, I was kinda bummed about my birthday this year, and I’m just now getting over it.

Anyhoo, looking back it turns out that I actually had a lot of fun.  I was just being a pouty baby about getting older.  Pity-fest is officially over.

Since one of my favorite things to do is eat, Eric took me to a food festival down in the Meatpacking District.  We ate so much, it’s not even funny.  We gorged on everything from arancini (yummy Italian rice balls) and gourmet blue cheese tater tots to oooey gooey brownies and salty caramel icecream.

By the end of the night, we were both too stuffed to even move.  Although  we did muster up enough energy to steal a kiss at the Coca-Cola photo booth…

Closet Confection: Fake It 'Til You Make It

2010_1024_outfit1

When: Sunday, October 24th, 2010

Where: Running errands

What: Jacket ($45 Forever 21), dress ($30 Paper Doll, also seen here), handbag (Kenneth Cole via Loehmann’s), ankle boots (Enigma)

In an ideal world, I’d be wearing one of these jackets from Burberry Prorsum:

However, after talking it over with my better half, he we decided there were better ways to spend $3500… like taking a two-week trip to Europe (which we’ve done in the past for far less than the price of these jackets).

After I came to my senses, I snapped up this faux version from Forever 21.

Gotta love that place!

As it turns out, this jacket is actually pretty decent quality, not to mention super warm and cozy.  And with all the money I saved, I can still afford to go on vacation.

As an added bonus, no animals were harmed in the making of this jacket…

…or these boots!

Suddenly I feel very socially conscious and PC.
