Closet Confection: On the Mayflower

2010_1102_outfit1

When: Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

Where: Work

What: Coat (Miss Sixty), dress ($10 via Old Navy clearance sale), scarf ($30 Missoni via eBay), shoes ($50 Vince Camuto via Loehmann’s)

So, my second day taking my own photos went a little more smoothly than the first.  This time around, I just focused on completely tuning out the people around me. It almost worked like a charm, except for the random old guy who yelled “Good luck!”

I’m still not sure what that was about.

Anyhoo, back to the outfit.

I bought this dress at Old Navy a few years back.  And because I have a terrible habit of buying things in multiples, I have another one in black.  I almost forgot I had this dress until I recently reorganized my closet (video post coming as soon as I get my hands on a decent editing program).

After leaving the apartment and arriving to work, I suddenly remembered why I never wear this dress…

DOH! I think I subconsciously knew that I looked like a pilgrim, which is why I decided to top it off by wearing these buckled ankle boots.

See, that’s what happens when your life is centered around food.  Last month I was channeling McDonald’s, and this month it’s Thanksgiving apparently.  I’m not going to worry about it too much, but I draw the line at dressing like a turkey.

Closet Confection: Keeping Things Under Wraps

2010_1101_outfit3

When: Monday, November 1st, 2010

Where: Work

What: Coat (Miss Sixty via Burlington Coat Factory), dress (Banana Republic, also seen here), boots (Michael Kors via Loehmann’s), necklace (Jess LC)

This was my first time taking outfit photos of myself using a tripod and remote…

Not too shabby, but I think I look a little stiff.  This is partially because it was FREEZING when I took these photos!  But it’s mostly because I was a little self-conscious about the odd looks I was getting from people walking by.

As a fellow nosy New Yorker, I could understand their mild interest.  For the most part I ignored it, but a part of me wanted to turn around and yell:

Fortunately, my parents raised me with a little more class than that.  So I just smiled and pretended they weren’t there.

There are some pretty cool locations to take photos near my job.  And I’m hoping that my boldness will increase over time so that I can take advantage of them without worrying about strange onlookers.

Next stop, Times Square!

Closet Confection: These Boots Were Made For Walking

2010_1026_outfit1

When: Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

Where: Work

What: Blazer (Nine West, part of a suit), dress ($35 Banana Republic, also seen here), handbag (Bally vintage via eBay), boots (Nine West via Filene’s Basement)

I just want to warn you all…

2010_1026_outfit5

You’ll probably be seeing these boots on the blog A LOT for the next couple of weeks.

2010_1026_outfit3

I bought them on a whim after work one evening, and now I just love them to death!

In fact, I’m wearing them now as I type this post at 2am.  They’ve been on my feet for the past 12 hours, and I could easily go 12 more.  They are just that comfy.

2010_1026_outfit2

I wasn’t sure if I could pull them off at first because they just seemed so… SASSY!

But sometimes a little sass is just what a girl needs!
