This week’s Modly Chic’s Friend Friday topic is on Blog Envy.
Some of us know all to well how easy it is to become discouraged by some of the very successful blogs out there. All too often, we compare ourselves and suddenly find that we are lacking. Check out my short video where I tackle the following questions:
-
1. Have you ever looked at someone’s blog and thought yours will never
measure up?
2. Do you (did you) feel pressure to meet some kind of undefined
standard for fashion bloggers?
3. Many established fashion bloggers are also extraordinary DIYers,
bakers, and crafty people. Do you think you need to combine all of
these things to be successful at blogging?
4. The most successful blogs are the ones that have their own personal
voice – how are you developing your voice or how did you find yours?
5. Toot your own horn… what’s one thing you do that is unique to you
and your blog? What gives your blog an edge?
Great video!! I really like your answers…very personable and honest. Thanks for your comment 🙂

You’re welcome. It was my pleasure!
Oh I really love that you did this in video format, it works so well!
Thanks! Sometimes it’s a lot easier for me to ramble than to try and type out coherent thoughts, lol.
Loved your answers to 1 and 2 and i loved the fact u did a video it really shows your personality and ur accent is soo cute 🙂
I guess I need to keep working on my non-regional diction if I ever want to realize my dream of being a news anchor… Just kidding, glad you enjoyed the vid!
lol i wouldnt know if its a regional accent lol as im british i love american accents 🙂
I feel the same way about what gives a blog an edge. It’s your blog and it’s only one you so that’s what gives it the edge. We can’t compare ourselves.
Good video.
I really like that you make videos. I feel that I know not only your style but your sweet personality too 🙂
Awww shucks! Thanks! 🙂
I really enjoyed this video. Makes the blogsphere feel like its filled with real people. I actually talked about this a bit in one of my earlier posts. When I first stumbled upon fashion blogging it was really demoralizing to see all the grandeur and whatnot and my first blog was like an unhealthy obsession. I eventually stepped back and shut it down. I’m back now after a few months of cooling off and it’s been great. It’s a lot less me-pressure. I appreciate your honesty :]

Loved the video Kendra!!! I didn’t know you worked in the technology field…I’m an engineer and my blog provides a similar outlet for me. It’s nice to know there’s someone else out there who has a techie job but maintains their femininity and style!
