While I do enjoy experimenting with my style, I always find myself coming back to classics, slightly preppy looks – like this simple schoolgirl-inspired contrast-collar dress and tailored wool coat. I recently had to head out of town unexpectedly with only 30 minutes to pack. With no time to spare, I reached for the easy, no-fail pieces in my closet like this dress and it’s grey counterpart. Now that I think about it, I probably have 5-6 versions of this outfit in different colors and sleeve lengths… and that suits me just fine. To keep the look from being boring, I added red lips (on my face and on my dress, lol!) for an unexpected touch of color.
And what about you – do you have a favorite fallback or style that you come back to again and again?
I always go to monochrome as a fall back style!! So easy to throw on all white or black or nude. Great post!
OMG, yes! I always fall back to black and white outfits.
Love how you added a brooch!

Thanks! I thought it was a cute way to add some personality.
Such a cute outfit! I need to find a dress like this that suits me. I’m petite and sometimes I can’t find the right fit. My favorites are: button up shirt and chinos or A-line skirt and a cute top.
You can’t wrong with either of those options. 🙂
