While a rumble seat sounds like tons of fun, today’s outfit centers around the first definition.
I’ve had this sweater for a while, but I really wanted to wear it with another shirt layered underneath. Unfortunately, this sweater is rather thin, so it just wound up looking bulky and weird. Fortunately, I had a eureka moment and remembered an old standby from my days in grade school: the dickey! At first I wondered if they even sold those things anymore. A brief web search pulled up some doozies (and elicited some horrified looks from my husband), but my perseverance paid off when I finally settled on this lace-collared number from Forever 21. I’ll admit, when I first put it on, I immediately recognized that it wasn’t the sexiest thing in the world. But once I put my sweater on over it, I was pretty much sold.
Stay tuned tomorrow as I further my descent into granny-chic territory by extolling the virtues of pantyhose.
What a fun look – it is preppy, a little retro, girly, chic. Happy New Year!

I know, right! There were some questionable links for sure, lol!
Have you ever considered thrifting a collared shirt and just cutting the arms off along the shoulder seam? Might be a good way to give this a shot on the cheap without having to go on a dickey hunt.
No, I have not… but that’s a BRILLIANT idea! I’ll give that a go and see how it turns out. Thanks! 🙂
