This past Labor Day weekend, Eric and I packed our bags and headed up to New Hampshire for a bit of fun and relaxation. First stop was a tour of the Anheuser-Busch Brewery in Merrimack (where I got carded, yay!). I’m pretty much a lightweight when it comes to drinking, but I managed to knock back a few samples and remain standing. Later that evening we enjoyed a lobster dinner cruise on Lake Winnipesaukee and caught a glimpse of the fireworks.
We covered a lot of ground on day two, starting with a trip to the summit of Mount Washington traveling along the steepest railroad track in North America. The ride was amazing, and we had a lot of laughs trying to stand upright on such a steep incline! The view at the top was breathtaking, almost like walking among the clouds. After that, we were off to Franconia Notch State Park for an aerial tram ride up Cannon Mountain and a hike through Flume Gorge. We were both pretty pooped after spending the whole day outdoors, but we saved up enough energy to tuck into The Country Cow for some comfort food that night.
Our final excursion before heading back to the city was a trek through Polar Caves Park. Not gonna lie, I did not dress appropriately for that excursion at all! I had no idea what I was getting into, so try to imagine me (cuz I sure as heck won’t be posting those pictures!) in a dress and dainty little flats crawling through caves with names like Orange Crush, Lemon Squeeze, Polar Pinch, and Fat Man’s Misery. It was interesting… to say the least.
All in all, we had a blast! And our little adventure was a great way to close out the last remnants of summer.
Lemon Squeeze is tough to get through even in jeans and sneakers! Glad you had such an amazing trip. 🙂
Wow, seems like the perfect weekend getaway. My husband and I went to the Northeast for the first time this past weekend and we were so surprised how much we were in love with it there. I also love that you’re able to wear scarves right now. It’s still 80 something here in Atlanta, so I’ve got to wait a little while!
yep, we had a great time. the weather has just started to cool off a bit, and i’m excited to start wearing some of sweaters and scarves now. enjoy the warm weather in atlanta. i’m sure i’ll be wishing for it in a couple of months!
