My company was a finalist for a small business award (WE WON!), and I wanted something festive to wear to the awards ceremony.  I had spotted this festive gold frock at J. Crew and knew it would fit the bill perfectly.  A few more gold touches like this little clutch and a floral brooch at my waist helped pull the look together.  I definitely felt like the belle of the ball that evening!

For some reason, I felt very First Lady-ish in this oufit.  Could it be the ladylike sheath..?  The demure handbag..?  Perhaps the pearl necklace..?  Or maybe it was just my arms of steel – not to brag, but I have  been doing pushups each morning for the past month.

Eric custom-ordered this shirt for himself a while back.  Unfortunately, he had some trouble taking his own measurements because the sleeves wound up being too short.  Luckily, it fit me perfectly!  It’s not all that often that I don men’s apparel (save for the occasional necktie), so I decided to play up my feminine assets with a flirty but relaxed mini-skirt.

I’m not all that well-versed in the finer points of menwear (it’s all just shirts, slacks, and blazers to me), but I did learn a few tidbits about the difference between bespoke and made-to-measure from ProperCloth.com:

Traditionally, bespoke refers to the process where the patterns for your suit or shirt are drawn completely from scratch to fit your body. Clearly this is an expensive process. Everything is done by hand. It takes a really skilled craftsman a lot of time and energy.

In contrast, made-to-measure is when a shirt maker starts from a base size and makes modifications to this pattern so that it more closely fits your measurements. Yes, made-to-measure shirts and suits are custom made for you, but the process is slightly less personal and much more efficient.
