This outfit was entirely planned around my new necklace. I was so excited to receive it in the mail the day before that I couldn’t wait to wear it the first chance I got! I love how from a distance it just looks like a simple beaded choker. But once you get up close, you can see it’s kooky without being over-the-top. I always look for little details like this to add a little flair to my workplace attire.

The last time I wore this dress on the blog, I thought it looked a little pilgrim-y. So this time, I added a tweed blazer to help calm down the colonist vibe.

The weather was gorgeous this weekend, and I just wanted something simple and laid-back to wear for an afternoon of lazy strolling around the city.  This shirt and I go waaaayyy back… seriously, I think this thing’s been in my wardrobe for at least 7 years (plus, I had another one just like it high school).  Like I always say, you can never go wrong with the classics.  A quick 80s collar pop and a J. Crew-esque sleeve roll were all it took to give this outfit instant preppy flair.  But I couldn’t resist toughening the look up a bit with slightly rugged ankle boots and a military jacket.
