Nothing like an old standby (i.e. basic black skirt + crew neck sweater) to get you through the last stretch of a hectic work week.  My favorite part about this outfit is the darling little sweater.  It’s the dreamiest pale pink, comes with a detachable Peter Pan collar, and only set me back about $15.  I just may have to score it in another color!

Also noteworthy in the above pics is my much-treasured copy of The Gentlewoman.  I’m a die-hard fan of Murder She Wrote, so when I learned that Angela Lansbury was to be featured in the latest issue, I scoured the streets of NYC for a copy.  By sheer dumb luck, I found one at a random men’s store that Eric dragged me too.  If you can get your hands on a copy, it’s a highly recommended read.

Lately, I just can’t seem to get enough of matching my shoes exactly to another part of my outfit.  It’s an understated and unexpected way to have a little fun with your outfit… something that’s much needed on an otherwise busy and hectic workday.

In other exciting news, I’m happy to announce that Uniqlo has finally added eCommerce to its US website.  We’ve been fortunate enough to have them here in NYC for the past few years.  But if you have yet to grace it’s awesomeness, I HIGHLY recommend you check out the site: http://www.uniqlo.com/us/womens-clothing.  They’re really great for long-lasting basics (in a dizzying array of colors), and I’m officially obsessed with the leggings pants you see me wearing above (plus, I have 3 other pairs!).

Despite having Monday off, this has been a loooooooong week.  It’s been an endless stream of back-to-back meetings, conference calls, and after-work events.  I’m looking forward to a nice weekend of relaxing and recharging.  At times like these, the last thing I want to think about in the morning is what to wear.  So I find myself reaching for an old stand-by: head-to-toe black.  And why not?  It’s simple. It’s chic.  And when you mix up the textures and throw in a surprise element (in my case, an oversized leopard clutch), the look is far from boring.
