Summer in NYC is finally here, and along with the heat also comes a bevy of outdoor activities and celebrations including one near and dear to my heart: the NYC Pridefest! For the past 8 years, I’ve attended this wonderful event and marched alongside and celebrated with my fellow New Yorkers (and visitors from all over) who look forward to a future without discrimination – one where all people have equal rights under the law. In my opinion, there’s nothing more beautiful than to see folks from all walks of life come together to support a great cause and have fun in the process.

In anticipation of this year’s Pride Week (June 23-25), I’ve partnered with Smirnoff, a company that has a longstanding relationship with the LGBT community. As a brand that champions inclusivity and good times for all, Smirnoff is inviting everybody to share their Pride through the hashtag, #Pride4Everybody.

I can’t wait to attend this year’s parade and cool off afterwards with a group of friends and a big ‘ole batch of Smirnoff Pride Punch. It’s super easy to make and a guaranteed crowd pleaser.

Follow Smirnoff on Instagram Facebook, and Pinterest for more recipes and inspiration for your summer celebrations!

No Sleep ‘Til Brooklyn Creamery… #BKCreamery

SONY DSC

Over here at CC Headquarters, we’re staunch fans of all things fresh, innovative and delicious – bonus points if it’s made here in NYC! That’s why this weekend, I’ll be happily trekking out to Long Island to check out Brooklyn Creamery’s all new, all natural Fresh Dairy Cream which models itself after British double cream.

If you’ve never tried it, double cream is a thick, rich concoction with a texture similar to sour cream or crème fraîche but much smoother and without the tartness. What excites me most about Brooklyn Creamery’s version is the fact that there’s no artificial ingredients, no added salts or sugars, and no carbs! If you’re like me and use a lot of heavy cream in your cooking, this product has the potential to take your favorite soup, dip, sauce and dessert recipes to the next level.

And if double cream’s a litle too rich for your tastes, there’s also single cream which is less thick and half the fat. Single cream can be used in scramble eggs or to make homemeade coffee creamer – just mix it with vanilla extract or your favorite flavoring.

If you’re up for giving this new product a try, Brooklyn Creamery will be hosting in-store demos at grocery stores all over. I’ll be live-tweeting at the Merrick location this Sunday to check it out, so definitely swing by and say hi if you’re in the neighborhood! Otherwise, you can click here for a full list of demo locations near you. And don’t forget to download a coupon here before you head out.

Stay tuned for my full report and recipe coming your way soon!

Cooking for 2: Chicken White Bean Chili w/ Crispy Tortillas

turkey-white-bean-chili

Before I got married, I used to live alone in a teeny, tiny apartment on the Upper East side, and my bathroom was literally inside of the kitchen. Needless to say, my crockpot was my best friend. I’d set it up on my drop-leaf table (in the living room!) before leaving for work, and chili was one one of my weekly go to recipes. Today I’m excited to share with you guys a more grown-up version of one of my favorite bachelorette meals… no crockpot required!

Ingredients

  • 1 poblano chile
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 cup white beans
  • 1/2 cup canned corn corn
  • 2 corn tortillas
  • 12 ounces ground chicken
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1.5 cups chicken stock
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
