Around Town {Landmarc Time Warner Center}

Like any New Yorker, brunch is a meal that I take very seriously. While I do enjoy venturing out to discover new places, over there years there remain a handful of trusted spots that I return to again and again… and again, lol! Landmarc definitely falls into the latter category. Way back when Eric and I first got married and lived in Washington Heights, we’d zip down to midtown nearly every Saturday morning for a plateful of Landmarc’s pancakes or pain perdu (the most delectable, gravity-defying french toast you’ve ever experienced). And while the food is absolutely delicious, the part I always look forward to the most are the amazing house-made caramels that the server brings with your check. They also have free cotton candy for kids… buuuuutttt rumor has it that adults can get in on the action too if they ask really, really nicely!

If you ever visit, be sure to try and snag a seat by the window overlooking Central Park. In addition to brunch fare, they also make a pretty tasty burger and french onion soup (or try the daily pasta special or a nice pot of mussels)… and if you’re really partying it up, get one of each on the dessert menu, and thank me later!

Around Town {Bar 65 at the Rainbow Room}

rainbow-room-bar-65-5{Banana Republic Dress (on clearance in stores), Zara Jeweled Sandals (old)}

True Story: I worked in Rockefeller Center for several years and never once took the time to visit the Rainbow Room! Last week – on a whim – I decided to rectify the situation. Eric and I were both dressed to the nines (ok, maybe sevens at best) with no particular place to go. Luckily, we snagged a last minute reservation and were whisked up to the 65th floor of 30 Rock for dinner and drinks with one of the most amazing views of the city I’ve ever experienced.

Around Town Everyday Outfits My Style

Jazz Age Lawn Party

A few weeks back, Eric and I had the time of our lives at the Jazz Age Lawn Party on Govenors Island. We first discovered the event several years ago while exploring the island by bike. Much to our delight, we stumbled upon a large cluster of stylish New Yorkers who looked like they’d just stepped out of a time capsule. It’s been on my agenda to become a part of the spectacle ever since, and this year we finally got our acts (and our outfits!) together to make a day out of it.

Since we’ve got a few trips planned this summer, I didn’t want to break the bank on my outfit. So I was elated when I found this pretty drop-waist dress on sale. Nailing the 20’s look is all about the details (aka accessories), so I sourced the rest of my outfit from vintage shops and online to get the best bang for my buck. A swipe of red lipstick and a smoky eye later, and I was ready to roll… or should I say swing?!

If you’re in the NYC area next month, you’ve got one more chance to make it out to the festivities and see what it’s all about for yourself during the weekend of August 13th-14th. Plenty of tasty food options are available onsite, but be sure to bring a blanket or two to spread out. I purchased a parasol beforehand purely for stylistic reasons, but it turned out to be quite useful under the scorching sun (along with my japanese folding fan!). Dressing in 20s attire is optional (and you’ll see a WIDE range of interpretations)… but why would you want to miss out on half the fun?!
