This post is a little out of order (I’ll post Saturday’s outfit tomorrow), but I had just finished adding all of the little 14’s to the above picture before realizing this was actually outfit number 15. Yes, I admit that I sometimes have trouble counting once I run out of fingers.
I don’t do it nearly often enough, but walking through Central Park is one of my favorite past times. It just feels so New York to me. I remember staying at a hotel right at the entrance to the park my first time visiting here as a teenager. It was the summer before senior year in high school, and I knew right then and there that this is where I wanted to be.
So I applied to a university here, got in, and the rest is history.
Flash forward quite a few years later, and it’s amazing to me how fresh and exciting the city can still feel. There’s always some new favorite hangout to be discovered or a never-ventured-upon side street to explore.
I know it’s totally uncool, but sometimes I get a little giddy when I’m walking past a famous landmark or passing by a site where a scene from one of my favorite movies was shot.
Unfortunately, most days it’s all too easy to get so caught up in my routine that I barely even notice the things that once struck me with awe.
That’s when I know I need to stop and smell the asphalt… to remember why I came here in the first place… and to take notice of the things that make the city so special.

Great little touch with the brooch on the blouse. I have to do the Central Park walk on my next NY trip.
so cute! i think i definitely need a hood scarf…
Of all the items that are big this winter that I really wish I could wear: velvet leggings are top of the list. They look awesome. I wonder if they will still be so gorgeous next winter when I don’t have a bun in the oven.
I think velvet leggings are a classic, so I’m sure they’ll be great next winter. If you don’t wanna wait, 7 For All Mankind makes a maternity version: http://www.apeainthepod.com/product.asp?Product_Id=234040141&MasterCategory_Id=MC15&Media=FroogleDataFeed_09_2010
Aren’t you sweet! Yeah, it’s not that they don’t exist, it’s that my butt is so much larger as a pregnant woman than I’m used to it being, and I can’t quite resolve myself to covering it in stretch velvet. 😀
Ahhhh… got it! 🙂
I adore these colors and the cute polka-dotted blouse! So classy. 🙂

i love those polka dots with the red blazer…very vintage-chic and yet still modern and fresh!
Love the colors and different textures you use in this outfit!! It’s so chic and so NYC 🙂
I love visiting NYC – it is one of my favorite places to go. There’s just something about the city that I love, though I remain a country girl at heart :).
I love the polka dots with red, the velvet leggings with the boots…basically everything! These photos of you are gorgeous and very NYC! Adorable.
mmmm… central park!
mmmm… polka dots!
mmmm… cozy snoods!
mmmm… leaves!
Perfecto!
Ummm…AMAZING. What a marvelous shoot 🙂 And you’re lucky I can’t reach that hooded scarf through my monitor or I MIGHT just snatch it off your head and put it on mine ;D
Hands off lady! 😉
I feel like I could have written this post, Kendra. It’s the exact same way I feel walking around my adopted hometown too. Giddy. Boy do you look great in these pics. Great outfit, terrific composition, awesome setting. PS: This is kind of a personal question, but are you losing weight? You look awesome.
It’s funny you mention that, because I actually tossed out all of the photos where I was sitting because I thought my thighs looked enormous, lol! I haven’t weighed myself, but I’m getting pretty clever with my contrapposto poses and camera angles.
LOVE the polka dot blouse – looks so cute poking out from the jacket!
I too love Central Park – there is always something that catches my son’s eye!
You look so chic! Love the color pallette and your boots are killer!
Thanks a bunch!
I LoVE this outfit and these photos. You look fantastic, and so colorful! What great color combinations! And you’re making me so jealous of all the pretty foliage (and the fact that you live near Central Park)!!! Only had a chance to skim the past couple entries because I’m swamped in work/life, but I’m loving everything you’re doing recently. The photos on the infield were also some of my favorites! Have a great Thanksgiving!
The foliage was absolutely gorgeous that day, everything was all golden. Enjoy your Thanksgiving too!
This has got to be my favorite remix outfit so far, LOVE everything about it!! I’m a big sucker for polka dots.
And I’m SO jealous that you are near an H&M…and probably several of them. The closest ones to Texas are either in Arizona or Georgia…and that is NOT close! The worst part is that they show H&M commercials on TV…that is such a cruel tease!
I can’t imagine what I’d do without an H&M nearby! Last count, there were 10 in Manhattan alone. I hope you Texans get one soon!
How recently did you find your polka dot top at H&M? I’ve searched high and low for one for what feels like ages! You styled it to perfection too!
I bought it some time in October.
Love this look! So sophisticated.
