Ahhhh… 30 for 30!
It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. I laughed. I cried. I felt like I wore the same things over, and over, and over again.
But seriously folks, this was a great exercise for me. I started this blog in April, and until this experience, I had always been hesitant to repeat items here. It turns out that’s what many of you seem to enjoy the most, seeing how I style up the same item different ways. Go figure! I’m glad I found that out, because at some point (in the very near future), I would’ve run outta clothes and been forced to either shut this sucker down or start wearing Eric’s things…
Actually I still might snag one of his ties and that Members Only jacket. But shhhh, don’t tell!
My main goals during the challenge were to wear every single item at least twice and to wait at least six days before repeating an item (a small exception was made for jeans and leggings). I’m happy to report that I accomplished both goals!
I was a little behind in my outfit posts, but I actually finished the challenge last Monday. I’ve noticed a few things since then, namely:
1. I am absolutely overwhelmed by my closet. I seriously had a mini-panic attack last Tuesday when I finally regained full access to my wardrobe. There were just so many choices. To help ease back into the dressing game, I selected 10 items from my closet that I absolutely wanted to wear within the next two weeks. In the morning, I just grab one of the items and put together an outfit around it. So far, it’s been great, and I plan to keep the practice up. Next time, I’ll let you guys know what items I select ahead of time.
2. Before making a purchase, I now ask myself if I would be happy to include it in another 30 for 30 challenge. If the answer is no, then I don’t buy it. Well… except for that red reindeer sweater from H&M which I promptly scooped up last week. Besides, seasonal items don’t count… right? Great, glad we agree!
3. I still love my dresses, but I’m looking for more skirts because they’re way more versatile. A dress is pretty much an all-in-one outfit, so you have to be pretty creative to make it look different. Skirt and top combinations, however, are virtually limitless.
And now for the biggest shocker…
4. I actually like wearing pants! Sometimes… Well… ones that fit anyway. In any case, expect to see more clothing of the two-legged variety on the blog this winter.
As far as favorite outfits go, I really liked everything that incorporated either my polka dot blouse or my black velvet leggings. Those two items, along with my magic gold pleated skirt were definitely the stars of this remix.
I’d love to hear what outfits you all enjoyed the most. Maybe I’ll do another challenge where I wear the outfit that gets the most votes for an entire week. Oh what, you think that’s gross? Yeah, me too.

I love the idea of choosing 10 items that you want to wear for the next week, I’m usually not great about picking out outfits in advance, but this might be an easier way for me to do it. Pants convert!??!

Thanks. I’m glad you find it entertaining. 🙂
After finishing my 30 for 30 challenge, I decided to only wear men’s clothes…..okay, an abridged version of that: men’s tops, mostly old sweaters discarded by my boyfriend. I have to admit, it was unintentional the first two days, but this morning, it was a very thought out decision. It’s also good because I’m leaving for vacation tomorrow and I know I won’t be taking these sweaters along with me…..
Have a fun and safe trip!
Yay!! Congratulations on finishing!!! I totally love skirts more than dresses… I always have the hardest time styling dresses!

Dresses are my uniform, but you do an excellent styling skirts on your blog.
I love the idea of when you buy something, asking yourself whether you like it enough to wear it in a 30 for 30. I think the shorthand could also be, would I wear it five times in one month? When I shop, lots of time I’m looking for an item that will go with one outfit, or something I saw on a must-have list in a magazine. These are not very smart purchases, in terms of actually making use of new stuff.
that is a great idea about choosing 10 items to wear in the next week. i did it last night and came up with some neat combinations, i think! thanks!
I think my favorite is the polka dot blouse layered with the pink top! Also love that gold skirt.
I have seen this challenge on kendi’s site and its so great that you did it! I am contemplating it next time around…congrats on making it through girl!
