When the temps start to get steamy, the last thing I want to do is anything waste time poring over my closet. That’s why I love simple, easy pieces like this white eyelet dress from Old Navy. The cami style is perfect for warm summer days, and I’ve collected a few in different colors and patterns over the years. They always go on sale too, so you can often snag them for around $15 or less! I usually toss a few in may bag whenever I go on vacation because they travel well.
About the Fit: This style is very forgiving and runs pretty true to size. I’m 5’7″ and the length is just perfect for a casual weekend look – not too long and not too short. The adjustable shoulder straps and panel of elastic in the back also make it easy to accommodate a variety of figures.
I simply could not resist this flirty red dress for my recent trip to Florida. The temps were steaming, and I sizzled in this cute little number. To be honest, I was a bit apprehensive about the cutout in front when I first saw it online. But I decided to take a chance, and boy did it pay off. I’m tempted to go back and get it in white. And who can blame me, since this dress is a whopping $25?!
About the Fit: I sized up on this one to avoid any weird bulges in the cutout area and to ensure ample boob coverage (working with DD’s over here, lol). That worked out well for me, although I did wind up shortening the straps some (short torso problems). If you have a smaller bust (and a toned tummy), you can definitely order your normal size with no problem.
Red is one of my favorite colors, but I don’t wear it nearly often enough. Looking back at these photos makes me want to change all that, so I’ve rounded up my favorite flirty red summer dresses below.
Who knew that walking down the street looking like a big ol’ yellow present would get you noticed..?
But seriously guys, I think this dress wins the world-record for number of compliments received. As soon as I saw it online, I knew I had to have it. It definitely makes a bold statement, so I paired it with minimal accessories – just a pair of bejeweled sandals and a little clutch was all that was needed.
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, then it’s absolutely no secret that I LOVE dresses, especially feminine statement-making pieces like this. My motto is that if you see a great dress… BUY IT! Even if you don’t have anywhere special to where it to right away. Over the years, I’ve found that the worst time to shop for an outfit is when a special occasion or important date is looming. There’s just too much pressure, and I can never seem to find exactly what I want. So I wind up just settling. But if you take my advice, and just get the perfect dress whenever you happen to run across it, it’ll always be there waiting for you when the occasion arises (and you’ll lower your chances of showing up to the party in the same outfit as someone else… oops!).
Anyhoo… when I recently stumbled across the Asos Salon Collection, I was like a kid in a virtual candy store. They have a swoon-worthy collection of party dresses in bold colors and fun embellishments. And the best part is that most of them are on sale for under $100 right now. Word on the street is that a certain blogger may have splurged on 3 (or 4) frocks to save for a rainy day!
