Black Watch Plaid

{ZARA Trench Coat, BROOKS BROTHERS Black Watch Plaid Dress, VINCE CAMUTO Ankle Boots, UNIQLO Black Watch Plaid Scarf}

Not sure if I’ve ever shared this with you guys before, but my husband has a thing for black watch plaid prints. Not gonna lie, it makes it SUPER easy for me to pick out his gifts for his birthday and the holidays. While I’ve been able to avoid having any black watch plaid furniture in the house, I do occasionally indulge him by wearing outfits that incorporate his favorite print. Over the years, I’ve built up a small collection of scarves, jackets, tops and dresses (I even have a black watch suit hanging somewhere in my closet).

Buffalo Check{Mate}

{Uniqlo Buffalo Plaid Coat (old, but also love this one and this one}, Old Navy Buffalo Plaid ‘Harper’ Pants & Turtleneck, H&M Wool Fedora, Manolo Blahnik ‘BB’ Pumps, Celine Handbag}

I purchased this cozy oversized buffalo plaid coat from Uniqlo about 2 years ago, and as soon as I saw these awesome buffalo plaid slacks at Old Navy I immediately knew that I had to wear them together. There was just no way around it.  I mean who am I to argue with fate?!

Most of my favorite outfits come together in similar fashion – I’ll buy a unique piece, and then struggle a little bit on what to wear with it. And then just like that when I’m not looking, its perfect match falls into my lap years later. Sounds sort of like a relationship, doesn’t it? Anyway it used to annoy the heck out of me, but now I kinda love it.

Contrast Cardigan

contrast-cardigan-outfit-ideas-for-work-1 {Zara Contrast Cardigan, Banana Republic Sweater Dress, Vintage Chanel Pin, Cambridge Satchel Tote, Ralph Lauren Heels}

I recently wore this outfit on a business trip and received TONS of compliments. I hate the stuffiness of suits, so this matching sweater dress and cardigan ensemble served me well and was way more comfortable than a blazer and skirt. Both pieces also travel extremely well, so I was able to take them straight from my suitcase and get ready in time for a panel discussion within minutes of checking into my hotel room.
