Some families shop on Thanksgiving… we prefer to wear plaid!
Every year on the day after Thanksgiving (aka Black Friday), I indulge my husband’s obsession with this famous green and blue tartan and don a head-to-toe black watch plaid look. The day is officially known in our house as #BlackWatchFriday, and it’s one of my favorite (ok only) sartorial celebrations. It’s even more fun, now that we can throw Christian into the mix. Last year’s family affair even wound up becoming our Christmas card.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this glimpse into one of our family’s stranger holiday traditions. What are some ways you and your loved one like to get into the holiday spirit? I’m dying to know, so be sure to spill the beans in the comments.
Having a 10-month old means enduring my fair share of late nights. Luckily, I’m a night owl by nature – and a little late night retail therapy helps the hours tick by even faster. My most recent indulgence was a shopping cart full of goodies from SheIn.com. I’ve always been curious about their garments (and to be honest, a little suspicious of their super low prices), so I decided to give them a shot. I purchased 4 items, and wound up keeping 3 – including this fabulous plaid cape.
I paired it with a cozy sweater dress and comfy flats and felt oh-so-chic as I took a stroll with the family around the New York Botanical Garden up in the Bronx.
Spring has sprung, and I’ve finally come out of hibernation. Unfortunately, the temps are still in the 40s in my neck of the woods. So I’m staying cozy in one of my favorite sweater dresses, plus a little faux fur on top. I’ve always loved the preppy look of varsity sweaters (also known as tennis or cricket sweaters), and have collected a few different iterations over the years.
